This is kind of like a game, so to speak, but more in the aspect that people can constantly art trade with one another and get different styles from whoever is interested in posting and fulfilling someone's desire to have something drawn for them. ^ o ^ I guess it's more like a, um... pass the torch type thread for people that enjoy drawing, and enjoy having things drawn for them. :'D
If you think there are any rules that can be fine tuned, expanded upon, or added, please don't hesitate at all to let me know! I'm happy to keep this thread updated, going, and making sure that this thread proves to be a good experience for those of you that are interested and post!
This is all very rough, and kind of an experimental thread that artists I talked to were happy to hear about! So there are bound to be some things that could be better in execution of this particular thread, and there are bound to be things I didn't think of!
Q. What if no one gets to what I want drawn?
A. I, or someone else who has volunteered their artistic capabilities, will get to it after seven days that your post has been up. ; v ;
Q. Can I ask for my friend's character to get drawn instead of mine?
A. Sure! I'm sure that would be a lovely surprise for them!
Q. Do you really expect us to draw in a week for the person that posted before us?
A. Depends on how detailed you're getting with it, I guess! I really kind of expect a lot of these to be bust shots, waist-ups, and chibi-type drawings! If you're feeling ambitious, I'm sure people would love fullbody images!
Q. If someone posts two characters, do I have to draw them both?
A. Not at all! It's more of a pick and choose type deal. (But I'm sure that if both characters post are part of a pairing of theirs, they would love you so much for drawing them together :'D)
Q. If I volunteer my art skills, fulfil someone's trade piece, and it still hasn't been a month since the time I personally posted my last post, can I still post seeking characters drawn?
A. Yeah, of course! It's a way to keep the thread moving without lapses in trades! Plus, you're doing something good to make sure someone gets something nice. :'D
Q. I feel like I don't draw all too well.... Can I still post?
A. It doesn't matter what your technical skill is! Use this thread as an opportunity to not only make someone happy by drawing their character, but also as a learning experience to better your artistic prowess! C:
Q. What if I want to volunteer my art skills for those that have gone without a reply to their post for x amount of time? Do I post here, or...?
A. You can post in the thread to let me know, but I feel it might confuse some people! PM me for a faster add to the volunteer list! ; v ; /
Q. Can I edit my finished piece into my previous post if I'm finished?
A. I guess you could! Maybe also send the person it was for a PM to let them know? They might forget that the thread is going on if they waited for too long! ; v ;
Q. What if I haven't received art from the person that claimed me?
A. Oh goodness, well that must be rectified for certain! Please send me a private message with the characters you wanted drawn, and I'll see to it that it gets completed.
Q. I want to post the art I have for the person above me, but I notice that they haven't finished their piece for the person before them, and I'm not comfortable with that. Can I hold onto the piece till they submit theirs?
A. If the person hasn't posted their piece, and you are uncomfortable with posting yours for them till they do, please PM me and let me know so that I'm not also questioning the activity of the thread and the participants of. I'm doing my best to make sure the thread is kept up with as well as active, but I'm not always available. PM'ing me is the best way for me to keep up to date with any troubles, especially since I have Push Notifications enabled for PMs.
Q. I'm used to threads like this having people wait till they're finished with their art pieces before they post characters that they'd like to have done by the next person. Why is this thread unlike those ones?
A. To be honest, I haven't seen any real issues with people not keeping up their obligations to the thread when they make posts. Till I get any complaints about people not keeping up consistently, I'm comfortable with keeping it in the format it's currently in. o:
People in this list are people that have volunteered their artistic capabilities to answer to those in the thread that have not received a response to their posting! They make it so that the thread stays healthy and artful!
Uh... > A <
Since I started this thread... erm... I guess that makes me first, huh? :'D;;
@ v @ So... uh... here are two things the first poster can choose between to draw:
This or That
Rules are as such:
- You can only post up to two different characters you'd really like drawn at that point in time per post!
- If you take on someone's wanted character(s), please post to let people know that you're working on it so that we don't have two people working on the same thing for one person! :'D Please also post your two characters when you take on someone's request so that the next person that wants to post in the thread can get to yours! ; v ; / This helps to keep the thread moving!
- You have to draw for the other person if you post stating that you're taking on that person's trade. Please see it through! If you do not within a certain time frame (seven days) of posting, you may be told that you can no longer participate in the thread if there are multiple offences of this. It holds up the thread as well as probably discourages the person that posted their desired characters drawn! So please don't post that you're to the task and delay! ; o ;
- Tracing is not allowed. References for poses are perfectly okay! But outright tracing is not okay when delivering your art to other members here in this thread.
- If you are posting in this thread, you ensure that all character designs are of your own creation, designs you have permission to use, or designs you have otherwise bought. If your character does not fit the criteria of being yours in creation, purchase, or permission, then please do not post that character.
This rule implementation does not mean that photos, face claims, create-a-character video game screenshots, and other real life pictures are included within this -- merely user created content that are drawings, original 3D content, and other similarly crafted characters. - While legitimate art trades are great and strongly encouraged between other artists, please make your art trades between one another in private. This thread is for drawing for the person above you. C: If you make your art trades here, it leads to confusion in the thread as well as halts further progress. ; v ;
- If you are posting in the thread to comment on something, make mention of time constraints, or anything else that might not be posting art or claims + character links, please post something at the end that says 'skip me' or something akin to it that lets people know not to claim you. There has been some confusion already, and this will help lessen it.
If you think there are any rules that can be fine tuned, expanded upon, or added, please don't hesitate at all to let me know! I'm happy to keep this thread updated, going, and making sure that this thread proves to be a good experience for those of you that are interested and post!

This or That
I'm considering this! My schedule is kinda all over the place but I'm going to keep tabs on this thread and see if I can hop in sometime soon.
I second what Sanne said. I wanna join in as well, but my schedule is all over right now. With that said, I am only a mediocre artist so it would be a wonderful opportunity to improve my skill.
I really like this idea. I love getting art of my characters and doing the trades twice a year Does all art have to be digital or will pencil sketching etc count? My tablet is a jerkface at times and it can be easier and faster to do traditional art. (Sorry if I missed this in the original post)
Either is fine. :'D
I totally understand the woes of digital art; my own tablet is starting to fail on me in recent times as well. ; v ;

I volunteer as tribute! I am an amateur and I would only do traditional art. This would be the first time doing an art trade too
So the procedure is this?:
- Look through thread and find who you want to draw.
- Post to claim the person, but don't include your own charas.
- Draw the pic!
- Post the pic as well as your charas.
- Wait until a new month begins.
- Return to step 1.
Also! Would this be easier to do as a group? That way a new thread can be put up for each month?
If done as a group, perhaps there could also be threads for different skill levels for people who'd rather participate in a fixed bracket.

Sort of!
The first thing should actually be see the last person who posted the characters they wanted, draw those characters.
- See who's the last person to deliver a picture and post what they want.

Also, I'm going to be very upfront about this: I'd rather not have this be a group exclusive thing. >__> I think if you want to do something like this in your own personal groups, nothing is stopping you. But please don't suggest to me that this should be a private event. This is meant to be accessible to everyone! A new member that is artistically inclined won't know to join a new group just for random art from people willing to draw them unless specifically directed. :')
So... ultimate verdict from me: do it in your own group if you like the idea but think that the public forum is not to your liking.
I can update each month accordingly. Today's the 7th? I can post next month on the 7th and say the thread is restarted. o: I can even edit the OP to reflect as such. ^ o ^
I agree with Jay on not having a group, they tend to start off really awesome but grow stale fast. For this particular event I'd love for it to remain in the public eye with activity!
I also think it's awesome that skill level is irrelevant here, I adore getting art from beginners who pour their heart and soul into a drawing of my character. And I love brightening someone's day when they're still learning themselves with a loving piece in return!

We've already drawn for each other, friend, so I'd rather be third, but yeah I'm totally up for it! I'm kind of busy and slightly uninspired but I want to get back in the groove of things so I'd love to do something like this - we'll all be essentially inspiring each other.
I only suggested a group setting so the thread doesn't get super unwieldy given you plan to do this long term, not that it had to be private.
I don't mind keeping up to date with the thread, honestly. I understand the responsibility of keeping the thread going. :'D I just want something that's more publicly accessible. Groups aren't always accessible, and sometimes groups aren't always the first option people choose. ; v ; Groups have a way of making some people, who are really shy, and not keen on niche things (like groups), feel partially unwelcome unless invited.
So the thread will essentially only move each time someone posts a pic? That's fine, but things might get clogged up! Another possibility is for this to be a simple "draw above you" type trade wherein you post to claim the person above you and post your chara at the same time, then work on your pic and update your post to include it. Now, there is certainly room for abuse here since you could just never post your piece... but people who do that can get blacklisted. Anyway, just another possibility! I'd be interested in taking part either way!
Yeah, I'm still interested in taking part however you do it.
@Heimdall
That's actually more of the way I intended it! I guess my wording could have been a lot better; in fact, draw for the person above you is a much neater way of saying it with less confusion! ; v ; I'll edit the OP to reflect that desire!

Okay! So... who is officially claiming Jay?
I want toooo! But I have my own art thread and am a bit busy - I've drawn for her and she for me too, so I'll give someone else the lovely liberty of drawing her beauties.
Looks like FiaratheNothingess is listed under Jay on the original post? Are we going by that list? o.o
