Have you noticed the "random" button in the RP Finder game creation screen yet? We're going to make it even more awesome to clickity click!

To Enter:
Suggest a prompt for a RP scene that two or more strangers might use to get playing in a hurry.

Your prompt should be concise -- about 150 characters, or roughly the length of a tweet. Provide a general idea or challenge that could be used to kick off a scene. Do not suggest endings or outcomes -- that will be up to the players to discover on their own.

If you wish, you can also suggest slider positions for default magic, tech and combat settings you think would go well with the prompt.

Entries will be judged on their flexibility or the range of characters they could apply to, interest, and creativity.

Winning ideas may be edited before they are included in the RP Finder.

You may enter and win more than once, but you may only receive one prize.

Examples:
To give you some inspiration, here are the prompts that are already in the RP finder:

• The royal gala is underway. Everyone who is anyone is there, except for the guest of honor. Is this a national tragedy, or an opportunity for a power grab?
• A virus kills 50% of the world's population... The other 40% are flesh eating monsters. Several survivors all find the same bunker at once. Resources are short and tempers are high.
• A night in a haunted house tests the sanity of brave (or foolish) adventure-seekers.
• A peaceful voyage on a merchant ship turns ugly when the ship is boarded by pirates.
• Pilot of a spaceship (me) is training a rookie (you) when a sudden attack disrupts the routine exercise.

Prizes:
10 new RP prompts will be chosen for inclusion in the RP Finder. Each person who submitted a winning entr(y/ies) will receive 3 months of Epic membership OR 5 character slots, at their own choice.

Up to 2 honorable mentions may be selected at the judges' discretion. These will receive a month of Epicness or 1 extra character slot, their choice.

Prompt: A group of hunters have heard strong rumors of a vampire haven deep in the city's bowels. Now is the time to band together & take action against them!

Magic: 60%
Tech: 50%
Combat: 70%

Defaults to Modern Fantasy, as I assume that's the largest setting type for things like this!
It's also exactly 150 characters with spaces.

Here's one I just had today and am putting to good use with my friend already!

One character is a king/queen. The other person's character is a captured spy from the enemy kingdom!


Also, are we only allowed to enter once, or multiple times?

Ohh, this is exciting. Just reading through this thread could give me some good rp ideas...

Here's my entry:

Character A cannot sleep. The lack of rest begins to affect their well being. Character B is tasked with curing character A's insomnia.

A scheduled delivery turns dangerous when black market contraband is discovered in its contents. Who will arrive to deal with it first, the law, or the criminals responsible?

There be a suggestion here, too!

An ancient, nigh-unstoppable power that was sealed long ago is soon to break free from it's shackles. It is up to you and your friends to end this threat before it's too late - be it planning to take over or destroy everything!

A ship carrying an assorted bunch of characters sinks, but instead of dying they wind up discovering a previously unknown civilization! For a time, things go well as they are treated like visiting nobility. However the rulers of this civilization has dark plans for these survivors.


This can also be changed to fit a sci fi plot by simply changing a few words!

Ooh, this is good. This is very good.

I think I might just throw everything at the wall and see what sticks. Is that okay? Beware, my story ideas stray a little bit into the fantastic.

"A group of friends is playing around, when one of them inexplicably goes missing. Everyone expects them to come back after a few minutes... But they don't. Police say the friend never existed/died years ago. Cue epic journey of discovery and secrets."

"A wizard is experimenting with various objects for his sorcery, attempting to create a new spell, with little success until one day. His apprentices, curious as always, sneak out late at night to see what he has created: A glowing scroll. But when one of them reaches to touch it, the whole group is transported to an entirely new world."

"Two lovers on a retreat wake up one morning to find that the entire resort they're staying at is suddenly deserted. Upon closer inspection, it seems the entire outside world was deserted. What happened?"

"A group of RP characters suddenly become self-aware."

"A peaceful farm, home to an oracular pig, suddenly panics for now reason. A boy, who is bored of tending the farm, and longs for adventure, finally gets what he wants when the pig escapes. As he journeys, he meets new friends that help him along the way to recover his pig." (Okay fine I ripped this one off of The Book of Three. The plot's still great."

"A trained hit man is unknowingly commissioned to take out another hit man... And vice versa."

"The night of a prom, two students are found inexplicably dead. How do the other students react?"

"A family of orphaned children who have to resort to stealing food to survive stumble across a serial killer's house (think Norman Bates) after a victim has just been claimed. The killer seems to be out of the house... For now."

"Retell the story of Robin Hood and his Merry Men the way you would like it to happen. Be original; Have new characters, new personalities, new setting."

"A serial killer has struck again in the small town of Blankville. The police force is small, and scared. No one has witnessed the killer strike, until today. The only problem is that the witness is a madman."

I'll come up with more later. (Some of these are for 1x1 and some of these are for broader groups.)

There is a BIG reward for an adorable/ugly, pet. A very important person owns this pet, spreading the word by any means. However, a villain, uses magic/technology/strange food/potion/ritual/genetic injection/other means to change this pet into a GIANT pet, once the rescuers leave the pet in good hands. The villain then uses the chosen method to cause mayhem, enlarging adorable/ugly animals, furniture, floating rocks in space, etc, but not the other characters (unless otherwise agreed upon).

Number of NPC's (non-playable characters): 2, perhaps less if a player's character is the very important person or villain.

Possible settings: Ancient, Medieval, Fantasy, Modern, Futuristic

Characters: Those that can find lost animals, chase villains, and, if over-powered, combat giant animals. Running is likely required, for both the villain and the "heroes". The villain cannot control the enlarged animals/people, making them a bad choice, if either is hostile. (kittens and puppies are good. Giant crocodile/kangaroo is bad.)

Combat: 0% to 30%
Magic: Possible chance of 85%
Tech: Possible chance of 85%

"After a solar eclipse, a group of people (the PCs) begin to develop strange and unheard of powers! The community, skeptical of these mysterious powers, casts the group out. But the solar eclipse brought something else, too: an ancient and powerful force returning after a long slumber, bent on conquest! How will the exiled group respond?"

Magic: 90%
Tech: 50%
Combat: 50%
(Tech and combat are both highly variable!)

"Years ago a bunch of kidnappings left a small town devastated. All of the children reappear, but they are the same as they did when they went missing."

I like group horror quite a bit, can you tell?

"Rumors have been spread that scholars have pinpointed the location of an ancient abandoned fortress, preserved by the Sunpeak Hills, untouched by time. Sadly, the area this fortress is buried is inhabited by many vicious Giant tribes who are at war with one another to claim the hills for themselves. Sunpeak is deemed dangerous to travel through, as these Giants are currently very aggressive. The adventurers willing to search for this lost treasure are either cunning warriors, or utter fools."

Depending on the approach, Combat can vary.

A marriage was arranged without the newlyweds having a say in it. Now the ceremony and feast are over and they're left alone for the first time.

Certain characters lose touch with reality and become trapped in a dark, dilapidated castle or mansion with no "easy" way out and are subjugated to their own dwindling sanity that takes the shape of Lovecraftian monster folk; the ultimate goal is to survive at all costs.

There is a missing child, with a big reward for finding him/her! The ad that was put out seeking help poses the picture of a sad-looking child. Surely a kind heart would drive you to finding this child! Or maybe it's just the money that is the driving force!

Humans have started to appear in the magic lands and all the inhabitants are divided on what to do about it.

One faction wishes to kill all the humans and another wishes to welcome them. Finally there is a third neutral faction who have views more in the middle, but don't trust the former two with power. In order to prevent bloodshed all three factions have agreed to a fighting tournament which will give the winning faction the power to make the choice. Of course with so much on the line, cheating and sabotage are all, but assured.

What began as a siege, turns into an exploration of a castle that seems to have aged by centuries within in a single night's time. Character A leads the investigation on what happened to the people that were there only moments ago. Character(s) B is watching, and waiting.

A spaceship has been crashed on a strange planet, sending out a distress signal to anyone who's nearby to come rescue them. The heroes who answer will find that this will not be a simple rescue mission, though. The ship seems completely intact, as if it landed and the crew disappeared with no sign of struggle, yet the distress signal is still being broadcasted.

Tech: 100%
Combat: 50%

A group of characters stumble across a structure seemingly made of nature itself in the middle of a forest. It opens up to welcome them into its dark interior, although when they step through they find themselves in the center of a very elaborate city composed of nature as well. Although this place appears to be a paradise, there's something more than meets the eye about it as they soon discover parts of their own bodies turning into plant life and losing feeling. It's a race against the clock as they try to find their way out before they're no longer who they are! Will they make it out in time?

Combat: 50% (Maybe less or more depending on the character's actions.)
