This is the official thread for adventurers to discuss helping Doubutt get weapons to the front line!

For your adventuring convenience, here is the link to the game:

Attention weapon gatherers! A spell is currently being worked to temporarily increase the number of weapons that are sent out per Doubutt win! :D
I spent a little time playing with sending weapons out, just to get a feel for it. Doing this actually helped me learn some things that might help any other weapon suppliers out there. Below are the tips and tricks addressing various aspects of the game that I have learned thus far.

Game Play

Objective
The objective is to navigate Doubutt, our beloved hero, and the weapon he is pushing around various obstacles and to the cannon room. From here the weapon can be launched to our fellow warriors to put down the goblin assault. As you go about this you will have to make sure neither the weapon nor Doubutt are destroyed/killed.

Starting Room
When you begin you will be in a square treasure room. While there seem to be many items laying about, most of them cannot be interacted with. There are two items you can get in here. The first item is the weapon, which is in the middle of the red carpet. Over it the text reads "Push weapon to cannon in last room" (See objective above). The other item is the magnet on the top right side. This will be addressed later in this guide.

Cannon Room
Somewhere in the maze of halls, rooms, and open walkways is the cannon room. If the mobs (see slimes, gray beetles, and blue beetles below) aren't bad enough, you will have to find the cannon room before you can be done. Once you push the weapon into contact with the cannon it will disappear. This means it has been loaded into the cannon. The next step is to have Doubutt make contact with the lever. This will complete the game and send the weapon to an RPRian.

Doubutt
The double rear-ended horse is here to help us all in our fight against the goblins. As you play as this character you will be pushing items and dodging obstacles. Doubutt has ten bars of health. When struck by mobs Doubutt will lose health, this can be regained by either healing fountains or food. If Doubutt is killed then you will receive a death message asking you if you would like to retry or exit.

It is good to note that this horse takes up a space 3 squares wide (see tiles on floor) by 1 square deep. In order to judge where he will hit something you can look at the shadow below him, as the box for him to interact goes roughly from the shadow to his knees. However, when entering a room at the top of the screen he will not enter until his shadow touches (This also seems to be the case with some walls, as he will walk upward until his shadow hits)

The Weapons
There seem to be several weapons obtainable through this. The ones I have encountered thus far are the rapier, grenade, battle ax, and ray gun. These are seem to be chosen at random and, upon completion of the cannon launch, are sent to a random RPR member to fight against the goblins. If a weapon is destroyed you will receive a screen asking if you would like to exit or retry.

Magnet
The magnet is an item obtainable at the first room. It can be picked up at any time by walking over it, and dropped at any time by pressing 'q'. The magnet will slowly draw the weapon toward Doubutt. This attraction starts when Doubutt is within range of one square of the weapon.

Grey Beetles
Grey beetles are they only aggressive mobs that I have discovered so far. If you get near a grey beetle it will chase you, regardless of obstacles. Should one of these reach you it will attack, reducing health by at least one bar. Running into them, however, may cause them to attack multiple times (testing this out I took 3 damage running into one, then one damage when it chased and bit me).

Should a grey beetle run into the weapon the mob will bounce off, walking for a moment before becoming aggro toward Doubutt again. This means that

Blue Beetles
Like grey beetles, blue beetles do not interact much with the weapon and do similar damage to Doubutt. Unlike grey beetles, a blue beetle will flee from Doubutt should he approach.

Following patrol routes, beetles leave behind an icy trail that expands before thawing out. Items on here will skin extra far and Doubutt will skid if not careful.

Slimes
Slimes will eat any entity they come in contact with. Balls and weapons will vanish instantly when touched by a slime, and Doubutt will take rapid damage. The amount of this damage depends on how long Doubutt is in contact with a slime, but it can be quite devastating.

Balls
Balls are found in random ball rooms, littering the floor. This can make getting the weapon through difficult, but can also be used as projectiles to damage beetles and vases.

Vases
Vases are destructible entities that can be damaged and broken by either projectile balls or by being run into by Doubutt. Broken vases have what seem to be a small chance of dropping food. While fragile, vases can be used as projectiles before they break.

Food
Food can be found in vases or lying about. It is important to know that mobs and Doubutt can consume food. While Doubutt is slightly healed by food, mobs can destroy them.

Fountains
If you come across a fountain and are injured, approach it. Fountains will restore health bars to Doubutt when this is done.

Rooms
In order to find the cannon room you will have to go from one room to the next. Rooms may have no entrances or they may have several. In order to enter a new room Doubutt must walk into the entrance where a new room will blink into existence. Balls and weapons may also pass into other rooms through the same manner. It is important to note that items keep their momentum when entering a new room.

Holes
Holes can and will swallow anything that goes over them. Entities that pass too far over edge will have a falling animation as they disappear from site. Doubutt will not fall until two thirds of his body is over the edge, in which case several exclamation marks will appear over his head before he frantically attempts to get back up and falls over the edge. Should this happen you will receive a death message and be asked to start over or exit.

Tips and Tricks
-Weapon slowing you down? Try leaving the weapon at the start and navigate the castle first. Once you find the cannon room and clear any obstacles you can go back for it and have a much easier time.

-Pesky Beetles? There are two great ways to deal with beetles.
1) Kill them with projectiles. If you have beetles in a room near a ball room it is possible, and sometimes quite easy, to push some balls over to toss at them. Once they have sustained enough damage they will collapse and disappear. No access to balls? Try using vases. Though destructible, velocity will damage the mobs before the vases are destroyed, thus making it possible to kill them with the vases.
2) Knock them off the edge. If you navigate carefully you can trick grey beetles into running themselves off into a hole, or scare fleeing blue beetles into doing the same. This is one of the quickest ways to kill beetles, but it requires there be holes in that room.

-Slime trouble? Slimes have a pattern of movement, this is very apparent in lines of them in which they go left to right or top to bottom. Watch this pattern and plan a push forward. Run it without the weapon to find a good path for the weapon, then give it a quick go.

-Stuck in a corner? If your weapon is stuck, try using the magnet to draw it out. Just get close to it and slowly walk it out. The weapon should come with.

I have a very simple, but extremely vital tip: scout ahead! The game seems to be procedurally generated, so traverse the labyrinth, spot the cannon, and then go back and traverse it again with the weapon. If you just push the weapon everywhere you'll end up losing a lot of time and risking losing it way more!

Also, in the first room there's a magnet, and if you grab it, you'll be able to attract the weapon toward you as well as push it.
I can already tell you that this is going to be a rather fascinating game to figure out.

Useful Information:
  • The Gelatinous Cubes can absorb/dissolve your item, be careful!
  • Running is your best friend.
  • The Magnet slowly attracts the item if you are close enough.
  • Take your time to clear rooms to make the trip easier when you move the item

Tips and Tricks:
  • Scouting the map before moving the item is going to save you a lot of time
  • Breaking vases can sometimes restore health
  • Ice Beetles can be 'scared' by running close to them and guided off of terrain
  • Metal Beetles are attracted to Doubutt, so in certain rooms, you can drop them off the map
  • Metal Beetles can be killed with bouncy balls, possibly the same applies to Ice Beetles (Will Test)

Known Issues:
  • Somehow, I've managed to force items into walls when moving too quickly in corners, forcing a restart. It is not game-breaking, but be careful

My first word to the wise is to take your time and figure out where the cannon is before you start transporting the item, as there are multiple dead ends throughout the map.

From there, you can actually 'scare' the ice beetles and get them to fall through holes in the terrain, so spending the extra time to clear a room out if possible will be infinitely useful in regards to getting items out to the masses.

Personal Milestones
  • 10 Weapons Delivered
  • 20 Weapons Delivered
First successful run through completed - hope you like the grenade, random person!
Also, the gelatinous cubes will absorb your items, so don't let them touch the item.

So I have two questions about the game

#1 what do you do when you get to a endless loop with no where else to discover?

#2 ia the game beatable?

I got the item from Swagnakor's win! Thanks Swag! :D

There's a whistling sound overhead. You look up to see a grenade gun come hurtling from the clouds! You leap and catch it before it hits the ground. It looks like the pin hasn't been pulled. Cool! You put it in your inventory.

Hey, there's a note attached! It reads "From: Swagnakor and Doubutt"

#1: You've missed a door somewhere. Keep looking. Or throw Doubutt in a hole and start over with a map you like better.
#2: Yes, it's been beaten several times, even within minutes of its release. :)

Ok thanks

You can kill the little metallic (beetles) bugs with the bouncy balls!

EDIT: Thanks for the axe, mk 97!

Darn. We've spent months trying to root this out completely.

I -was- trying to run like a kid hopped up on sugar and the bouncy balls contributed one of the times.
It's only happened twice, so it's not a frequent happening, and it only seems to happen on the snaking room.

The one with the single cube mopping up the floors?
Yeah, the one with the S-curve sort of room, one or two cubes mopping the room. I'll get a screenshot next time I come across one.

That was fun! I missed the magnet at first and ran around working too hard to not knock the weapon into the abyss. The bouncy ball room proved to be a super distracting delight.

I also somehow managed to go "off map" and get stuck to where I had to restart the game. 8P Just the one time, though!
