Remember Reason (played anonymously)

Although crime here in the city wasn't as bad as it could be in neighboring ones, that didn't stop people from being terrible to one another. Remember wasn't typical for her age, but really she was only slightly out of the norm, but that still warranted awful remarks and the like apparently. Her interests varied greatly from her peers and she wasn't afraid to express that, usually in the form of talking aloud to whatever characters she was currently writing about.

Her biggest form of expression was travelling. But not just travelling, mind you, she would travel in search for the biggest, well-preserved-yet-equally-intimidating abandoned building. Why? Because although she had yet to actually encounter anything paranormal, she never gave up on the idea that one day she would. So that takes us to where she is now! The cab dropped her off about a mile away from her destination, which was located away from the city, but there were several houses in between. She hoped that, perhaps, there would be more than one house she could break into on her trip to or from the building she had in mind.

About twenty minutes passed and she now stared at the fast-approaching visage of the house she sought.

(umm....we have a problem, Glaceia wouldn't be found in a city as it would be far too scary for her. Dead 5 year old from the dark ages in a city? Way too much for her to cope with.)

(Perhaps you could be hiding in a forest nearby? It could be a fairly remote city, in the mountains or something... if that's okay?)

(Oh, it isn't necessarily in a city. It's sort of away from the city, but a city is nearby. There are a few houses, but not a lot. Sorta like in the countryside, almost. :D)

A pile of rusted clutter was strewn about a smaller, less dilapidated structure. It sat neatly beside the main building. No doubt this long-forgotten place was once a servant's quarters. Moonlight shone on the mansion, and seemed to disregard the working-class cottage.
Wooden slats had been nailed over the windows, planks of the same material barred all entry into the house. It appeared as if someone had recently tried to kick the door in, but to no avail. The insignificant building was rather plain, made entirely of bricks with a battered slate roof. It sunk slightly to one side, seemingly weighted down by the ivy that scaled it's walls.

A figure moved silently through the somber architecture. He wasn't bothered by the settling dust nor the abundance of cobwebs. In fact, he found this gothic environment to be particularly welcoming. Having named the servant's quarters home, this lone being was rarely disturbed, except for the occasional fluttering of bats or the hoot of an owl. So when he first heard the distant sound of gravel, churned by the tires of a car, the first thing that came to his mind was, "intruder..."

There was a cool breeze that somehow made it past the coat she wore, sending a brief shiver up her spine. Ignoring it, the excited individual walked toward the mansion in question and looked around. Was there an easy way in? Remember struggled with the door, so she gave up on it rather quickly. Some of the windows were boarded up, others half broken with a single board (maybe two) nailed to the other side.

The girl took off her boot and placed her hand in it, now punching out the rest of the glass with some ease, not quite minding the noise she made. It wasn't a violent act, but was actually a bit on the casual side. "Ow...," she muttered, finding a small shard to have fallen in the boot. It only scratched her. The little bit of blood that welled up was negligible and would warrant a bandaid, if anything at all.

After checking her boot for more glass, she put it back on and went to work with trying to push the nailed up board away. A lot of grunts came from her, and some motivational speech, but otherwise she was decently quiet. At least until the rotten board gave way and was sent flying across the room. "Oops...," she whispered, offering a chuckle at the end there.

With some difficulty, she pulled herself up to the window and began to crawl through. Having done a terrible job of dusting the remaining glass off, she got a few cuts on her legs and some on the palms of her hands, but most of them would dry up before too long. One on her knee kept bleeding, but she seemed not to be too bothered by it. Perhaps she was far too excited to notice anything else? Having fallen to the floor, she stumbled when she got up, taking a good look around.

If the girl were to look behind she would notice that for some unexplained reasons that some of the trees were developing a coat of snow. The ground was also growing a snowy coat to match. Hidden almost out of sight was the cause of this sudden bit of winter finery...a ghost of a small girl. She was hidden amongst the tree branches and looking down at the girl with a curious expression.

Yet even so, she hadn't made a move to leave her hiding place for Glaceia was feeling rather shy at the moment. Not too long ago she had been badly frighted by a car horn from some guys planning on going on a hike. Luckily for Glaceia, then hadn't seen her and luckily for the men, they had still been in the car and thus had been protected from the ice that had wound up freezing the car. Even luckier for them was that it had been a reasonably warm day so the ice melted away after a while leaving them alive and with a strange tale on their hands. Oh she hadn't done it intentionally, but she had always been dangerous when frightened ever since she had become a ghost. It was almost to be expected really, what could one expect to happen when such dangerous powers are left in the hands of a child who had never lived to to see her sixth birthday?

He lurched through the twisted, grey garden, circling around the aging house to the back door. The figure slipped unseen into a murky drawing-room. A vicious chill suddenly washed over him, and the young male clenched his coat tightly at his bosom. Shivering, breath misting, the supernatural made his way across the room. His senses seemed to blur in the blueish half-light. He could no longer hear the commotion of a break in, and wondered if loneliness was finally taking it's toll. The demon shook his shaggy head. Solitude had never bothered him before, tonight wasn't going to be an exception. His thoughts returned to chasing down this trespasser.

The house was foreign to him. As someone who disapproved of vast spaces, the manor was quite breathtaking compared to his little cabin. Dust spurted up into the air as he galloped, settling once he'd past. Like an animal, the demon ran on all-fours. If the burglar could hear this inhuman clumping around, they'd surely be inclined to leave in a hurry. A weakling such as himself wasn't much to look at, but his mannerisms were rather unusual and reminiscent of a beast's behavior.

The creature pounced around the corner, disbanding a group of rodents. The animal's scurried fearfully to their homes. Since he rarely ventured inside the manor house, it's furry inhabitants were unused to his presence.

As Remember was looking around, her eyes glanced out the window and saw the woods coated in a thin layer of white fluff. It was odd to her, but she quickly grew distracted with the sounds of something feral (or so she thought) running about. Oooh, was it a dog? A cat? She was so excited! Didn't really seem to know the concept of fear, apparently. Maybe she should keep it as a pet? She always wanted a dog!

The girl shifted a bit, resetting her dress in the perfect position before walking around. It was dark, so she pulled out her cheap old phone in an attempt to shed some light, but it did very little but add a blueish tint to anything excessively close to the device. Pocketing it moments after she brought it out, Remember continued walking, now pursuing the noise. She kept her footsteps quiet, but the old creaky floors likely gave her away if anything. She began to glance in every doorway, touch every shelf, adjust every old picture frame hanging from the wall, and a myriad of other things. It almost appeared as if she was walking about at leisure, enjoying herself and--

"'Choo!" she sneezed. It was a squeaky sneeze, and sounded almost fake, but it was real. Sniffling, Remember continued her search for... nothing in particular. The so-called dog maybe.

The quiet, human sneeze drew his attention away from the corridor ahead. It took only a split second of distraction for him to trip over his own coat. A pile of moldy, wooden debris broke his fall and generated quite a racket- Scarecrow cursed under his breath. The demon remained sitting in the derangement of wood for a few moments. He listened closely to the stranger's footsteps, echoing all around the hollow construction.

"Perhaps I'll just let them be. I'm sure they don't mean any harm... Maybe they're
familiar with the previous tenants.... although I'd imagine that was quite some time ago..."

Scarecrow continued to ponder whether he should risk further injury. The planks on which he
sat were soft, at least. The demon groaned and moved tiredly into a crouching position. Gazing along the dark passageway, he concluded that the stranger must not have come this way- for the cobwebs and blockades of collapsed flooring remained unmoved.

"I... I should probably investigate..." He sighed, already tired from his sudden romp around the mansion.

[How modern is the manor?)
Remember Reason (played anonymously) Topic Starter

[Probably not too modern. Since it seems to have been abandoned for several years and is falling apart, it'd probably be like early 1900's or something I'm guessing. :) ]

Glaceia watched as the girl went inside the huge house. Her disappearance made her feel a bit braver, so she floated out of her hiding place and then to the ground. She spent a few more moments marveling at the huge house before entering it, but not through the door. No she just floated right through the wall and straight into the kitchen.

Once inside her expression again again returned to one of awe as she looked at the derelict kitchen. She was especially fascinated by the stove. They didn't have stoves when she was alive and thus had no idea what to make of it. She then started to fiddle with it which could have proved disastrous had the stove had any fuel. Luckily for everyone involved tho, the stove had none and so was not going to be frightening the child with fire.

It wasn't long before the giggles of a happy child could be heard for as far as the sound could carry.

The incredibly loud ruckus could be heard even from where she was. The girl jumped up and stared out, intrigued and scared in the best possible way. Chills ran down her spine from the nape of her neck and she grinned. "Hello?" she called loudly. She began to walk toward the source of the noise, eager to discover the thing that caused it. She pushed some cobwebs out of the way as she inched closer, although she found herself jerking toward the direction of childish laughter midway through her trip. Remember giggled as well. If someone was playing a trick on her, they were doing a good job and were stimulating the part of her brain that got excited over things like this, so kudos to them! And if it wasn't a joke, that made it that much better.

Remember's smile widened and her breaths grew short, shallow, and quick. She tried to be quiet and still. "Who's there?" she added, having to refrain from giggling even more. Ooooh how exciting!
Glaceia (played by Katia)

[Is she heading towards scarecrow or Glaceia?}

[She was originally heading toward Scarecrow, then stopped when she heard the giggling and remained still. :)]

((I'm sorry for my reply being shorter than usual, I'm tired and uninspired at the moment :(...))

A second voice piqued his curiosity even further. Still recovering from his fall, Scarecrow began making his way to the playful laughter. To venture into such a place, required intense bravery, certainly not something small children usually possessed. Admittedly, his confidence began to falter. The demon hesitated slightly. It was entirely possible that Scarecrow was walking into a trap. If he had anything to pride himself upon, it was his caution.

At last, he arrived a few paces from the drawing room. He glanced back through the gloom of the corridor (several times in fact) and prepared to confront the interloper.

[Sorry u was on vacation as I posted on my profile and Glaceia is simply going to continue to play in the kitchen until she is found.]

The laughter would be followed adamantly. She was slow, yes, but not too cautious and all too eager to see what was having a giggle fit in the kitchen. Her eyes only barely moved from the direction of the noises, and even then it was only to check if she was going to step on something potentially harmful. By the time she approached the kitchen, she had her eyes locked on the ground. She entered and veered off to the side, away from the door and against the wall beside of it, almost as if beginning to circle the kitchen with her hand on the wall. By this time her eyes were slowly peeling themselves from the floor and taking a good once-over of the kitchen.

[Bah, tis short as well! My apologies!]
Glaceia (played by Katia)

[Just saw it, but it's late so I'll post tomorrow after I have had a chance to think it over.]

[Edit: wait, she took a good once over and yet didn't see Glaceia?]
