It was a fairly decent looking house. Ranch style, with a large wrap-around porch and a single chair near the front steps. It was a lightly faded white with black trim and shutters that never covered the windows; he had blinds for that. Like most California houses, he had a palm tree in front, and to celebrate the spirit of Halloween, he had a little tiki thing out in front covered in cotton cobwebs that, if you were a specialist in recognizing tiki things, came from Belize. He also had a pumpkin with a coiled snake-like dragon around it which was, in fact, an Amphiptere. But unless you knew these things, it was just a really cool pumpkin.

The inside was also lit, but not by a candle. In fact, the pumpkin appeared to be glowing on its own, if you looked closely. That would be a little hard to explain to the humans, so he hoped it didn't come to that.

Karang himself was in the chair on the porch, a little bowl of goodies on his lap, his magnificent multicolored wings outstretched in a lazy fashion. It was the only day of the year where he could walk around with his wings out and not get looked at weirdly, so he took full advantage of it. His sandy blond hair ruffled in the breeze and his kaleidescope eyes gazed down the steadily darkening street, waiting for the little human hatchlings to come down and take his sugar.

The dragon was having fun with this. He had taken the phrase 'trick-or-treat' a little too literally, since it was a fairly new concept for him. The treats were indeed marvelous things: gum that could be chewed an entire day, caramel that didn't stick to the teeth, chocolate that was almost addictive in how amazing it was. All enchanted, of course, to be treats that were fit for Amphipteres like himself.

The tricks, on the other hand, were quite chaotic. There were caramels that glued the mouth closed for an hour or so, pixie sticks that were actually salt instead of sugar, mud instead of chocolate. It wouldn't hurt anyone permanently, he wasn't a malicious dragon, but he was a trickster, and tricks he was playing. He was going to have fun with this.

Someone needed to explain the idea of Halloween to him properly, since it wasn't exactly proper to trick little childrens.

He bared his longer and sharper than normal fangs in a grin as someone started to head down his walkway... So, trick, or treat?
Eshe loved halloween. It was her favorite season, simply because it seemed like everyone was having fun.
The black-furred jackal girl was dressed up in a girls version of a Greek soldier costume, with a fake bronze chest plate, shin guards, bracers and a helmet. She had made her own cape out of red cotton and she had a bow in her right hand and a pillow case in the other.
She and a couple of friends turned up the walkway towards Karang and they all said "Trick or Treat!" in unison.
"Those wings are awesome!" Eshe said, looking at the appendages on Karang's back, "They're so realistic."

He looked over at his wings, fluffing the feathers out slightly in pride. His wings were perhaps his favorite feature and he took great care in keeping them neat; he always loved it when people complimented them. This girl would get a treat, and a good one, too.

"Thanks," he replied, extending the candy bowl to them, his voice tinged with a hint of a California accent. "Made them myself."

Kids were so funny.
"Woah!" her eyes widened when he spread them and ruffled the feathers, "Are they... Part of you?" she asked, having assumed it was just a part of his cystine. She took off the plastic helmet to try and get a better look at him.

He shrugged, studying the girl through a multicolored gaze. He had to tread carefully here, although he wasn't entirely sure if he had to be overly cautious since she wasn't exactly human herself. If she was a human then he'd definitely have to backpedal and fast, but... She was different too. That was reassuring.

"I suppose you could say that," he finally said slowly, his head tilted as he thought about it. It was a reasonable enough answer, in his opinion. He did wish he knew a memory-wiping spell though, in case she reacted adversely to this. It would be rather useful in such a scenario.

Oh well.
"Huh..." she stepped forwards and took some candy then waited for her friends to leave. They didn't seem too concerned with leaving her behind.
"May I see?" she asked a bit shyly, "Where they attach to your back?"

(Sure, rhythm :3)

Karang waited a moment, watching her friends leave, before finally looking down at Eshe and raising an eyebrow. "You really wanna see? Well, I can't begrudge curiosity." He stood up and arched his back in a stretch, sighing as he heard his spine pop before carefully setting the bowl down and flexing his shoulders to loosen them up. He stretched his wings out a moment before folding them so they arced around to his front, like the way a bat's wings does when it's nestling in a cave for the day. He then turned around so she could see, craning his neck so he could watch her over his shoulder.

The wings were morphed smoothly into his shoulder blades, that was obvious through his shirt. No bumps, no ridges, nothing, like they were a seamless part of his spine. He could easily make the wings go away if he needed to hide them, simply morphing them back into his shoulders as if they were never there. It was one of the magical abilities he was pretty good at; shape shifting was his strong suit. Teleportation? Not so much, but he was working on it.
She lifted a hand and gently traced her fingers across the fine line where the wings fused to his body.
"That... That's pretty incredible," she said quietly, "What are you?"

A young man, maybe about the age of 15,maybe 16 wandered around, walking through peoples yards, but not going door to door, ringing on the doorbells, saying trick or treat. The boy was dressed as a magician. Some may ask why a vampire was was dressed as a magician,on Halloween night, why not dress as Dracula,or Vladimir tod? Well, what's the fun in dressing up as a vampire, when you already are one? He walked around, twirling his black wand, with its white tips, his top hat atop of his head. His blackish brown bangs blowing slightly in the wind.He wasent trick or treating, but you must admit, its fun to dress up,and on this time of year,he had an excuse to.He looked around at the decorations on peoples yard and house, beware signs,skeletons,jack-o-latterns,take cobwebs,"hell, welcome to Halloween town" Destery whispered his thought aloud. One thing did catch his eyes though. His green eyes darted to a man with wings, from a distance he couldn't tell if they were real,or just strapped to his back, children that walked by were just focused on sweets, and sugar, but he looked at the wings in fascination.

Karang grinned as he turned back around, once again showing his fangs as he watched Eshe. "You don't want to guess then? Alright, but if I tell you, you must promise to keep quiet. I..." He puffed his chest out dramatically, taking a regal stance, "am a magic chicken. I am the most magical chicken you shall ever meet."

He had to have a little fun with this, honestly.

He watched her a moment to see her reaction, then shook his head. "No, I'm not a chicken. That would be interesting but I eat chickens and I'm not a cannibal. I'm also not a parrot, a turkey, or some kind of bird of prey. I'm something very different." He looked down at her again, his gaze having drifted up as he mused aloud. "You sure you don't want to guess?"
She giggled a little bit and her tall ears pricked forwards, "I like chicken~" she smiled, "And... From your teeth... You're a... Manticore?" she guessed.

Destery just had to get closer,he wanted to see better, besides,it looked so fascinating. The vampire walked over to see.Nobody could tell he was a vampire just by looking at him, sure he was pale, but he just lie about a reason for that, and his fangs weren't exposed. They looked like normal, human, canine teeth.

"Nope." He shook his head vigorously again, scattering his sandy blond hair everywhere. "Guess again." He'd give her two more tries and then he'd tell her. He'd be interested to see what she could come up with until then, and if she could come up with dragon at all. Dragons normally didn't have feathered wings, so that might throw her a little bit; Amphipteres were the only species that actually did have feathered wings. Once you knew Amphipteres though, it was quite easy to tell by the feathers where the Amphiptere in question came from. Karang's own colorful feathers were signs that he was a Belize Amphiptere, brown, black, and grey feathers told of North American Amphipteres, and white with pastel colors were the feathers of a Common Amphiptere, to name a few.

He doubted she'd know about this, though. Few people did. It was usually common dragon knowledge, but again, she wasn't exactly a dragon.

He could see Destery coming up the path out of his peripheral vision, and cocked his head to the side curiously, although he didn't say anything yet. He could sense something off about this one, too; he had gotten pretty good at identifying humans and Dragonslayers, and this one wasn't either. Interesting.
She scratched her head thoughtfully, "Um... I guess not... Your wings aren't very leathery... Are you... A roc?" she tried again, "With teeth?"

"Nope. One more try," he told her, rocking back and forth on his heels in something resembling excitement. It had been a long time since he had last seen a roc, so it was rather curious that that was something she had guessed. Last time he had checked they were on the verge of extinction in the northern U.S.; maybe they were making a comeback? He needed to go check later on. That would be something worth investigating.

Destery, the man dressed as a magician, but obviously wasent, looked at the mans wings, then at the man."Sorry,I just happened to notice your wings, they looked cool, and I wanted to get closer to see." He said, just so there wouldn't be an awkward moment of silence.
"I guess not... They went extinct a long time ago... Um... Are you... I give up."

"I-" He had been about to tell her when Destery spoke up, and his kaleidoscope gaze flicked from the girl to the boy curiously. "Thanks." He extended them a little more subconsciously so he could see them better, a single red feather floating off his wing toward the ground. He snatched it out of the air quickly, twiddling it in his fingers as he looked back to Eshe. "Ever heard of Amphipteres?"
"Um... Maybe... Like the south American, legless dragons?" she asked.
