CAPTAIN, THE STORAGE CRYSTALS CAN'T TAKE ANYMORE!

Hooray! We've learned our first peculiarity about our new server. They all have very distinct personalities, you know -- I expected there would be a few oddities we'd encounter as we got to know what sort of Server we'd moved in with this time. You'll be glad to know that this one happens to be a nerd.

In fact, our new server is the sort of nerd that loves to memorize facts and figures and debate which Doctor was the best Doctor with its friends.

Unfortunately, it's too good at memorizing facts and figures. For the last few days I'd been tracking an issue in which the server seemed to suddenly be using up its storage capacity at an accelerated rate. I checked to see if we were suddenly uploading vastly more images. Nope!

"Server, what is taking up so much space?" I asked it.

"TRIVIA," it crowed victoriously. "NEED MOAR!"

"Well, just clean your room when you're done playing," I admonished it. "It looks like a quantum torpedo went off in here."

"Okay mom," said the Server, and went back to memorizing every little detail about what was going on on the site. Clearly, exposing a nerdy server to so many characters and plotlines was just asking for trouble. Imagine the temptation!

At the rate that it was memorizing things (and thinking about them), it looked like we had two more days before serious trouble. But during the night it went into overdrive, and when I woke up this morning I found it having such an intense Kirk vs. Spock argument with itself that I had to take away all its trivia and reboot it. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DON'T CLEAN YOUR ROOM LIKE I TOLD YOU TO, SERVER.

It still very much wants to collect trivia, but we're having some serious talks about healthy limits, and I'm monitoring for signs of refusing to throw away trivia again.

Oh my. Poor server-- it must be a super nerdy genius, and we gave it the Golden Apple and all that incomprehensible jazz that doesn't fit.

o.o Ahhh so that was what happened this morning. I was trying to wonder if it was just me.. and MY comp.. (because my comp likes to mysteriously NOT work on me) but I hope the issue got fixed... or will be continued to be monitored. You are doing an awesome job. Don't stress yourself out TOO much. Take breaks. Maybe go search for "server mallot techniques".. or something..
