Darth_Angelus is the mastermind behind this wonderful short!My earliest RP experiences were on a Star Trek MUD. I went from baby RPer to veteran of literary battles in my years there. I read novels and voraciously watched every Star Trek episode that had been released up to that point in order to be well-versed in the "lore" and be able to better portray characters that lived in that universe. I discovered I had family members who were involved in the series, and became even more fascinated by it. I've written before about some of the Star Trek philosophy that has influenced my real life.
My parents have memories of watching as children themselves, and marveling at a vision of the future where people of all genders and races held command positions and worked together with respect.
I am proud to salute Star Trek's 50th anniversary today. I hope you'll join me in going where no one has gone before! I'm wearing my Star Fleet uniform all day today, and will be doing a Star Trek marathon this evening. How will you be celebrating?

In honor of this incredible anniversary, we'll be posting Star Trek inspired RP prompts this month -- they'll be appropriate for any sci-fi RP, Star Trek based or not, and most can even be used in less technologically advanced settings without the need for changes.

Just finished watching the Squire of Gothos... it is strange to look back and see that despite the campy appearance the original series had amazingly good writing and cinematography. Little wonder that it is a franchise that has spanned generations!
I'll be watching The Man Trap, since it seems appropriate to watch the episode that started everything 50 years ago today and playing some Star Trek Online.

My first experience was when we went to my Dad's boss' house and he was watching the end of The Motion Picture. I can remember him telling me who Kirk, Spock and McCoy were and I found it interesting.
A few weeks later, Star Trek 5 (yes I know) was on TV and it was great fun, it made me want to see more. While I can understand why people aren't too fond of that particular film, it got me into Star Trek and of course it only gets better from there.
Luckily, the BBC started a rerun of TOS shortly after and I watched it all. Being a fan has changed my life, from influencing my creativity to making friends around the world.
This year I've been rewatching TNG and DS9, but tonight I think I will celebrate Star Trek's birthday by watching the episode that started it all, The Man Trap.
