When It Rains...

7lL2g97.png

There's a storm movin' in... Those angry clouds, it seems, have an agenda. They barrelled into the Basin with a vengeance, blanketing the Basin and its residents in thick, heavy rains. While storms are nothing new in this little slice of paradise, it has been years since anyone has seen anything of this magnitude. The winds whip violently, doing little to calm the storm that created it in favor of making thick, sticky mud everywhere the water touches down. It tapers off briefly, affording residents a mild reprieve in the form of sharp, battering hail mixed with light rain--alternating every hour or so.

Many businesses within the Fort's neutral walls are opening their doors to those seeking refuge from the storm, but space is limited and kindness only goes so far.

No doubt tensions will soar and tempers will flare during these trying times. Residents must scramble together to save their possessions, their houses... and in the event that they cannot? They must forfeit everything in the name of survival.

Can they learn to work together? Or will rivalries and prejudices rear their ugly heads?

Only time will tell, and there don't appear to be no end in sight...

Day Two brought more rain still with intermittent bouts of hail. A mudslide threatened to weaken one of the Fort's walls, and residents banded together to stop it from happening.

The rain has continued its relentless assault for the last forty-eight hours, washing out the Crossroads entirely and completely submerging camps on lower grounds. Residents are urged to safety within the Fort's walls, and travel outside of them is strongly discouraged. The weather continues to be unable to make up its mind, hail mixing in alternating intervals. Into the second day, however, their is a minor reprieve in the angry thunder and the glow of lightning that accompanies the rain.

As day progresses to night, however, the rain begins to show signs of letting up, transitioning into a heavy drizzle come morning.

Perhaps there is an end in sight after all...

Day one consisted of even more wind and a metric butt ton of rain. Tune in now on this episode of what you missed... to catch yourself up:

Night has turned to day... not that anyone could tell because of the looming darkness that cast itself over the entirety of the sky and effectively blotting out any chance for the sun to peek through. The storm graced the residents of the Basin with a chorus of thunderous applause and streaks of lightning that, under any other circumstance, might have been beautiful. The present silence is officially broken by lightning that lights up the entire sky and a booming crack of thunder--the only warning to the subsequent and quite literal pouring of water that drenches the Basin in sheet after sheet of rain.

As the day progresses, the storm only picks up in its intensity as the clouds drop their proverbial loads on the residents below. Buildings shake and rattle violently in the wind's rampage, and it sounds as if the rain has only gotten heavier.

The rain continues with a vengenace. Tink-tink-tink. The soft tapping of what could only be described as hail begins to fall with the rain... as if that alone was not already enough! The rain does not show any end in sight, and continues to pour in abundance on the Basin. No place is safe from the storm's wrath, though the walls of buildings continue to rattle loudly.

The rain will continue through the night, unrelenting in its downpour though it is often intermixed with bouts of hail.
