  Born with a mangy mane and scraggly tail, Grizzlehide grew up fighting for his own dignity and pride. Because of his determination and prowess, he escaped the ridicule of his peers and became a leading, charismatic warrior of the Marshtread Herd immediately upon his coming-of-age. Since such a time, he has won countless battles, and suffered many defeats. In both his victories and his failures, he received numerous scars and wounds - the most noticeable of which add to his namesake in the form of two long, broad scars running down his body from below his right shoulder-blade to the middle of his equine back. Once immensely strong and bulging with muscles gained both from fighting and, more importantly, from picking up large rocks again and again, he is now at a point where his skin is starting to sag and his previously stone-like muscles shrink and soften. His glory days are over, and he often wishes to leave the world of battle behind him. When he is not busy training new warriors, he can often be found lounging about in the shade of a tree, playing with any of his three children (all from different mothers) who very much enjoy his company whenever the opportunity presents itself. Other than that, there are rumors that he has been spied, far from the herd, singing softly to himself and timidly attempting to play some sort of woodwind instrument; of course, he vehemently denies such accusations, as they are not the stuff of warriors. Mainly, he is just plain tired of fighting, and has therefore made a habit of listening to as many stories being recited as he can. He thinks it is high time to learn a little more than how to kill.
