    Those garlands of brass bells lashed to its sides aren't intended to draw you in, wanderer.
    That clamor is warning of its passenger, Casim Deathstalker.

    Locals call him 'the Heretic Prince'.

    Rumors swarm thick around the monster riding in that coach,
    that he's manipulating the Crown, or that he's some kind of ancient Lich.
    He can barely show his face in the Capitol without creating utter hysteria.
    No one knows what to believe, but we all seem to agree on one thing...

    ...that every rumor has a basis in fact.

    Merits and Strengths

    Charismatic Speaker - Political influence requires the ability to command attention, to hold the fascination of listeners and plant seeds within the fecund soil of their thoughts, then leave them to grow. The syncretic connection between metaphysical study, extreme education, and political involvement have forced Casim to sharpen his skills as an orator. When the Heretic speaks, it is difficult -not- to listen.

    Metaphysical Savant - Arcane mastery is the spoil of Casim's wasted life. He has studied many magical disciplines in his many years both living and dead, however in recent years, rather than waste time learning off-the-cuff rotes and spellcasting, Casim is refining his long-term artifice. Weaving together complex rituals, bringing powerful wards to life, and pushing the boundaries of ritual theory and the arcane sciences.

    Greater Undead (Lich) - The nature of Lichdom is to bind one's intellect and essence into a magical object called a Phylactery, then reanimate their corpse using intricate, powerful rituals requiring years of research and study. Because his body is undead, Casim has no requirement for sustenance, sleep, or supportive care. To destroy him, one must also destroy his Phylactery, or risk his physical form re-manifesting after a time.

    Flaws and Weaknesses

    Notoriety & Infamy - Casim's lichdom is common knowledge to those living in the Capitol, and many average citizens of Immortalis (should they recognize him) will simply flee or stand terrified and numb. In short, Casim Deathstalker is a public relations nightmare, and this keeps him all-but imprisoned upon the Palace grounds lest he risk causing fear-induced hysteria among the population.

    Bound Into His Bones - Due to a ritual preformed by the necromancer, Eleuthera Lorcan, Casim's physical remains been bound into a set of enchanted bones and flesh, in essence a vessel that has been shaped to be his image before death. Despite being an Arch-Lich, Casim cannot leave this body and his powers as a Lich are greatly reduced to prevent harm to those he spends the most time around - the living. The body, if damaged, will slowly heal over time to its original image.

    Fractured Psyche - By the time they are capable of becoming what they are, most Liches have severed their worldly ties and have shed their living personalities in favor of pursuing power. Casim, on the other hand, tries to keep those ties alive in death. His personality grows increasingly fractured as he struggles to be a Patriarch to his family all the while his ties to the Abyss leave even his neutral evil ethics eroding into pure chaotic sociopathy. Without warning, Casim slips between states of malice, placidity, rage, melancholy, adoration, and sadism.

    Achilles Heel - Surviving emotional ties to his brother-in-arms, Drenai Deathstalker, the necromancer Eleuthera Lorcan, the Crytikos Bloodline, and his many Godchildren are points of vulnerability for him. Direct threats to those precious ones will render the otherwise carefully restrained Lich into a rotting, hateful monstrosity who's only desire is to consume and desecrate the source of danger, blind to even his own allies. Should something happen to one of those bound beloveds, Casim is duty-bound to take those persons to task regardless of any other storylines currently taking place.

    Phylactery - An object tied to the existence of a Lich that contains and shelters its essence and soul. His phylactery is key to his continued survival and must be carefully hidden in order to protect himself from being forcibly summoned via magic, commanded, manipulated, blackmailed, or killed outright. Currently, Casim's precious phylactery has fallen into the hands of another, which he has told no-one, but presents a great danger to his continued existence. Note: The player currently in possession of the phylactery is Eleuthera Lorcan.

    Dweller in the Void - Years spent communing with the Abyss, a sentient plane of negative energy and the source of his power, Casim has lost a great deal of the elf he once was, and all but the strongest of his arcane-bound duties and attachments have dissolved into the emotional and physical entropy of the conscious void. He exists now only to serve the Crown, his Bloodline, and those ritually-bound to his observance and care. Were it not for the arcane shackles of duty, he would descend into this communion forever, never to return.

    Abilities and Feats

    Lich's Touch - As negative energy is the antithesis of life and living vigor, direct contact with a source of those energies has the power to paralyze, drain vitality, and sap magical energies from those that a Lich lays a hand on. Such a touch will leave his victim with muscle/tissue damage similar to aggressive frostbite. Such wounds will resist quick regeneration, as well as divine and clerical healing. Use of Lich's Touch requires at least one combat turn of touch contact, and will penetrate clothing and light armor, but not maille or heavier.

    Ritual Magic - Despite the horrible transformation Casim has undertaken, the act of ritual spellcasting hasn't changed for him. Demonstrated via roleplay, he can ritually track characters if he has the proper ritual link to them, can create sustained effects, wards, object enchantments, summon the spirits of the dead and unborn, and assemble magical or undead constructs if given adequate time and the proper material components. He is also capable of opening portals to different planes within reach of Larlandarl and traveling between points within the realm using a technique called 'netherwalking'.

    Corrupting Presence - As an undead who's very existence is tied to what he calls 'the Abyss', Casim exudes a radiant, penetrating chill. Although he keeps careful control of it, it can be strengthened and exerted to damage living and magical objects around his person, causing flames to die, plants to wither and blacken, animals to sicken, rooms to grow uncomfortably cold, and to potentially disrupt holy or divine wards and magic.
