Cascana: home to some, a get away for others, but for Demora, it a hell hole in which she needed to escape.

Born on the streets she was no stranger to the life of a thief. At the young age of only four months the lass was an orphan. Begging crying and often times just silent to those around her, the caravan took the young one under their care and raised her. Known as gypsies, this band of mothers fathers uncles aunts and many many cousins all say her as just another lost family member brought to them for sanctuary. With her mother being well known for healing the poor, how could she be seen any other way?

As Demora grew she learned to use what the gods have gave her to her advantage. Her honeyed tongue, slender feminine frame, and the voice of a siren to some, she swayed the brutes and even some the lassies as well. All for information that swayed in her favor. At night however is when the fun began. Robbing in bare daylight and returning to a family she adored was something she held dear to her heart. However, lady fate seemed to have other plans.

On the eve of the years previous carnival, she danced and delighted all those who were around. Catching the wrong eyes wasn't anything new to the lass, after all she wanted to be looked at, while they were watching her, the audience wasn't watching their coin pouches. Something was wrong. Her dance was over and the younger thieves haven't gave her the signal to leave. Instead larger dogs seemed to swarm the stage she was on. Talking her was out wasn't going to work. In the end she was caught as part of a theiving ring. However,it wasn't the ports guards that had caught her, but a noble known as Lord Hadvar.

She was givin a choice. Be wed to this male as his catch or watch as her family burned and be beheaded. Little did she know her caravan was slaughtered two weeks after her ceremony. Agreeing with his demands she only had one. "Do not touch me as though you care, leave my body as it was the plague." An easy agreement, the contract was signed. Posters of the wedding was nailed to every post. It was a grey day. "Come one come all: see as a savage siren has now turned her back to sin and is now a saint to all females!"
It was a mockery.
The money was good, all she had to do was dance and present herself in a delicate manor to his rivals, for non had such a trophy as this romani gift from the gods was.

As weeks past, things began to change. Her now mate was drunk most nights and would often take him loseing money out on her. The beatings, the lashings, and the unwanted advances piled up inside her. Threatened with her families lives at stake, all she could do was obey. The night of the first day of carnival would change everything.

A young servant had left it slip, Demoras family was gone, almost a year ago now. Filled with rage the lass suffered in silence. Waited. She fled that night, hopeing that want the maid said wasn't true. Even with a year passing, she never forgot her way. It was quiet, usually there would be music and singing but now only whispers of the wind.
The scent of burnt flesh still haunted the area. A mass burn pile with skeletons was the only thing that greeted her. Not even the pups were spared.

Not even days after her discovery, Demora poisoned her noble mate and fled. Now with carnival in full swing perhaps she could escape. A ship? Maybe this was her ticket out.
