Megan King

Meg is a college student with big dreams but is not sure what she wants to do with her life. She is friendly and outgoing with lots of talents and interests. She's changed her major a few times and has mostly been focusing on core curriculum stuff like English, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

Meg is equally as flighty with jobs and unable to make up her mind about where she wants to work. She has worked everything from fast food to movie theaters, to retail stores, waitress and hostess, and even a dog walker. She never stays at a job for more than a few months. Her record has been making it almost to the one-year mark.

Besides paying for textbooks and her classes, Meg continuously squanders every penny she makes on trying to learn new skills or jumping into new hobbies. One of her biggest problems is her inability to stick with anything. She went from expensive dance classes to private ice skating lessons when she got interested in being a competitive figure skater. Meg has tried dozens of things over the years including art, basketball, roller derby, trading card games like Magic the Gathering, and standup comedy... she's always finding new costly hobbies, spending entire paychecks on lessons, musical instruments, art supplies, and props only to lose interest in a few months and move on to something else. She's also a bit untidy and bad about getting places on time. Organization, budgeting, and time management are definitely her weaknesses. Her parents and friends have always bailed her out until now, so Meg has somewhat come to expect that things "always seem to work themselves out" in the end.

Her latest abandoned hobby was trying to be a magician and performing stage magic. At first, she spent time practicing card tricks but found that she wasn’t good at handling playing cards. She then moved on to juggling, which she was alright at but then decided to try out being an escape artist after discovering a female escape artist on YouTube she started following. Meg squandered several hundred dollars on a very expensive straitjacket on eBay only to realize she couldn't free herself from it. She had no better luck with other types of restraints. All of her magic props are now stuffed in a box in the closet.

Over the summer, Meg joined a band and is one half of a female duo called "A Week From Wednesday" named after the other half of the group Wednesday Weekley. Wednesday is the principal songwriter, lead singer, and lead guitarist. Meg is simply the backing vocalist when harmonies are required and plays the chords behind Wednesday's solos as the rhythm guitarist, but has been promised she will have a bigger role as her skills as a musician improve.

Meg just maxed out her credit card to chip in for sound equipment and buy herself an acoustic guitar. She's also purchased several online courses to learn how to play. So far, she's not half bad at it, but she's eying even more equipment like an electric guitar, amp, effects pedals, and thinking about learning other instruments before she has really mastered the acoustic guitar. To top it off, she's really starting to burn out on her job at Starbucks.

The classes and items needed for all of her hobbies are taking their toll on her finances and her ability to pay her bills and rent. Given her spending habits and her having trouble with keeping a job, she frequently finds her bank account overdrawn and looks to her roommate and other friends to spot her for groceries and when they go out to eat. They'll understand, won't they?
