• Soft Power

  Aervin Andres is a victim of pop culture and soft power.
  
  He was the perfect test subject, in build and enthusiasm, to undergo a black ops procedure to make him as strong and impossibly stylish as the heroes and villains he obsessed over in comics and cartoons.
  
  The testers succeeded. Sort of. The details of the testing are under tight wraps, and not even Aervin himself knows what happened. But when he woke up, he recognized immediately that 1) he was being restrained in a top secret government testing facility, 2) he was pulling through all sorts of popular media, the likes of which he had never even seen before in his life, through his head, to find out what to do in his situation, and 3) he was strong enough to break the chains that bound him.
  
  So he did all that, and with his embedded knowledge, he escaped.
  
  These days he travels across the world hoping to find somebody who understands his current state of mind- unstable and addicted to the signs of popular culture. It's like he's two people- one of them is normal, able to self-reflexively process and criticize the tropes running through his head, all in an attempt to stay normal; the other one is the dangerous warrior who lives and breathes these tropes to an impossible degree.
  
  Nobody can cut a tank clean in half with a rusty old sword and blow it up in real life. But Aervin can, and did. No one is able to run up the walls of buildings non-stop and swift kick assassins through the ceiling. But Aervin can, and did. No one can possibly ride a jet plane like a surfboard. But Aervin can, and did.
  
  The moment he thinks, not feels, is the moment that Aervin stops being "awesome," for lack of a better word. Questioning why cuts have to be clean and split even will effectively block out his memory. Some of the muscle memory spills out to Aervin's rational persona, and he can replicate some feats while in his 'normal' state, but will never be able to harness those impossible powers effectively unless he clears his mind and becomes the tropes.
  
  In most cases he is powered down, unable to access his other half intentionally. This is both a blessing and curse.

• Purpose

  The purpose of creating Aervin Andres is to make a compelling character who is incredibly reflexive and self-conscious about action sequences and surface-level tropes like the ones you see on TVTropes. His restraint in trying to blow stuff up is vantage point through which I would like to RP this character. I guarantee you that there will be no godmode-ing from this guy, not even if he goes into his pure, unadulterated action state.
