  • History and Other Notes

    Magnus is an only child, born to doting parents in Porta Vista, Kanto. His parents could never bring themselves to discipline him, leading him to become spoiled and quite nasty. He was bullied because of his weight so one of his only friends was his Geodude, Atlas. (Atlas was a gag "pet rock" gift from his uncle when he was very little). Chief among his childhood bullies was a boy named Cambrey Tosson. It was a rough downward spiral--he went to his parents for comfort when he was sad, and they spoiled him even more.

    When Magnus turned ten years old, he was determined to escape his peers by beginning his Pokemon adventure. His parents, never able to resist, got him a Squirtle, whom he named Koopa. Unfortunately, Magnus was simply not cut out to go adventuring, and was unused to roughing it in the wild. He was forced to return to school. (Since he had bragged about leaving, he was doubly teased for having to return!)

    What ultimately broke the cycle was his mother's illness when he was almost 13. She became too weak to work and even too weak to dote on him as much as she used to. It was a shock, and perturbed him more deeply than he's willing to admit. This, as well as moving to a new school, pushed him to start working out. By the time he was 15, he was heavily into lifting and boxing, and even a little surfing and football. He found friends in fitness, and his social life started to flourish. He didn't spend too much of his time training his Pokemon, but eventually evolved Koopa to a Wartortle and caught his Machop, Domine.

    His mother's health never fully returned to her, making Magnus very hesitant to leave home. But at her urging, he went on to make his own way in the world. After that, the world was his oyster. He caught his other Pokemon, lived in various cities in Kanto and Unova, did semi-professional bodybuilding and odd jobs. And, of course, all the while he has been training his Pokemon as well as his body. He sends a lot of money home to his parents, and spends the rest on supplements, food, clothes, so he lives paycheck to paycheck.

  • Carncrag Town

    A young and fresh-faced Magnus leaves for the Hoenn region, having never stepped outside of Kanto in his life. At this point, his main goal is to level up his Pokemon and save money doing contests. Carncrag Town seemed a pleasant a destination as any, especially with the strange influx of fire Pokemon. He won a few contests and had a good time.

    While in Carncrag Town, Team Rocket made an attempt to capture the legendary flaming bird, Molten. Together with a ragtag team of buddies, Magnus helped to foil their plot and set Moltres free.

    For this group.

    Around age 25, Magnus competed in the Battle Frontier of Ohana Islands. He had traveled through much of Kanto and a little bit of Johto, Hoenn, and Unova. The disastrous events of BFOI's first year resulted in cheap travel there for year two, something that Magnus was quick to take advantage of. He was prepared to flex his bod on tropical beaches, catch some rays and pump some iron, and maybe squeeze in a battle or two. He made it though the fourth round, when the unseasonal blizzards made him drop out. He came for the nice weather, dangit!
