  • Facultates

    Cassiel does not do "magic" in the arcane sense. Cass's powers are explicitly through connection with the deity Yahweh. As such, characters whose nature annuls "magic" are not able to annul Cass's abilities except preventing healing on themselves.

    Heal: Cassiel is capable of promoting healing in others. This healing is swift, but likely very painful since it condenses the entire healing process down into several minutes rather than days, weeks, or months. As such, Cassiel is likely to use it in small doses to prevent someone from bleeding to death or falling in battle rather than healing them completely as the physical and mental trauma of such a rapid healing can cause lasting damage. (OOC Note: Healing is up to the consent of the player. If you do not wish your character to be healed for any reason please let me know, and I will adjust for that. I will never force wellness on a character.)

    Improved Healing (Self): A racial trait, Cassiel heals faster than most people. It is by no means werewolf-speed healing, but wounds that should take weeks or months to heal often will heal in half the time or less. As a result of this, mundane diseases do not affect Cass, and anything but the fastest-acting poisons or venoms will not do much harm. In addition, Cassiel is not susceptible to effects that would turn Cass into a werewolf or vampire, nor can Cass be turned into a ghoul by a vampire seeking servants. As a result of this improved healing trait, Cassiel does not scar like most people do, nor do wounds that would leave lasting damage to most people leave lasting injury to her. The exceptions to this rule is a wound dealt by a weapon or spell that is pure evil or amputating injuries since Cassiel cannot regrow limbs.

    Exorcism: As the name implies, Cassiel is capable (with player consent only) of driving evil or demonic spirits out of a vessel. There are times when this is not an ideal answer because the person inside the vessel may be too damaged to function without the presence of a demon. Excorcism, depending on the state of the host's body and soul, can prove fatal. (OOC Note: Cassiel is theoretically able to exorcise any demon, but it is up to the other player what they want for their story. I will never force an exorcism on someone without explicit consent.)

    Holy Fire: Holy fire is one of Cassiel's most powerful weapons against demons or creatures of darkness. It is, as the name implies, a holy power which creates a vigorous flame that will not harm the righteous but will damage the wicked. The experience of being burned with holy fire is likely to deter most demons or dark creatures from wanting to interact with it, since it is excruciatingly painful. Cass often coats her sword with it during combat with creatures of darkness. Water cannot extinguish this flame, but maintaining it requires some level of concentration. If Cassiel is knocked unconscious or otherwise incapacitated, the flame will extinguish. (OOC Note: Even if you hail from a different pantheon of gods than Cassiel follows, holy fire should still do substantial damage to your character if you fall under the "evil" alignment. Holy, regardless of the pantheon, should still do injury to evil much as evil can still damage holy.)

  • Weaknesses

    Supernatural
    • Demonic/Evil magic can cause Cassiel grievous injury. Injuries sustained by demonic power defy Cass's ability to heal rapidly and will cause permanent scarring. Cass can defend against such attacks, but much like demons are strongly affected by Cass's abilities, Cass is strongly affected by theirs.
    • If Cassiel falls too far into sin Cass will begin to lose holy abilities, starting with holy fire.

    Mundane
    • Cassiel can neither read nor write well.
    • Cass has only a rudimentary understanding of money; this makes it profoundly easy to take advantage of her on a financial level.
    • In conjunction with the last point, Cass's survival skills are limited. Cassiel has basic hunting skills, and can make a fire but is not proficient in shelter building or any other necessary survival skill.
    • Despite Cass's experience with evil, Cassiel tends to be more the "trust until given reason not to" type of person. As a result, Cass provides people with far more chances than they deserve, and is slow to anger. As such, it is easy enough to convince Cass to forgive wrongs that should not be forgotten.
