    She was part of a rich and conservative clan. They didn't accept her liking for exploring, punishing her and not letting her see the outside. So, she leaved her home at a very young.
    When exploring The Shifting Expanse, she met Satoru, an Imperial dragon who helped her when she was being attacked. Satoru was passing by, recollecting some sprockets like her. They kept together since that. Chiai likes to make fun of him, but he takes revenge doing her pranks, that usually don't work out very well, since the spiral is now used to them.

    The two met Nami when exploring the Sea of a Thousand Current.
