ALL THE DACHAUS MUST REMAIN STANDING.
The Dachaus, the Belsens, the Buchenwald, the Auschwitzes - all of them. They must remain standing because they are a monument to a moment in time when some men decided to turn the earth into a graveyard, into it they shovelled all of their reason, their logic, their knowledge, but worst of all their conscience. And the moment we forget this, the moment we cease to be haunted by its remembrance. THEN WE BECOME THE GRAVEDIGGERS |
Got used to seeing men I knew by name die, but never horses -- when horses die there's nothing kind about it, they die ugly. ➥┊ Ebenezer is not his birth-name - but it's coy and close. ➥┊ Elongated, gold eyeteeth -- as sharp and conniving and dripping in wit as an asp's. ➥┊ Equal parts maddened joei de vivre, hyper-awareness and pretence and drunken self-loathing, war-cry defiance and mania. ➥┊ Speaks the Kings with a cut-throat, antiquated alacrity and a breed of Marlboro, world-worn gravitas. ➥┊His is a port and bourbon. Don't taint it. ➥┊Currently owns around six horses. ➥┊ Like all lone-digger Europeans born with a fire in their belly-- --Ebenezer had a sordid affair with the West. ( It burned him alive, but the coal's still hot. ) ➥┊ He owns an old school, cut-throat Barber's -- it's dimly lit, burr-wood panelled and hazy with old records, old times and old aches. Electricity is a sin: there's only hot towels and straight razors here. Take it or leave it. ➥┊ Weekend markets see his hearse-- a beautiful Victorian relic -- and bay Clydesdale Fitzgerald gathering a crowd of excited, eager faces as they offer rides around the City's tourist traps. |
