  • Background

    Maera is believed to have been born somewhere within Germany. A pure Eurasian/European grey wolf, the female was born into a small pack along with two brothers. She spent her pup years in Germany with her pack, growing into a fine young female. Growing up with two males she would play fight often, and this gave her the advantage of learning some fighting techniques early on in life. However, as she grew to about one year of age, it became apparent that Maera had become soft at heart and would hate to fight, even playfully. This is when the humans came along.

    Having been wandering alone one day, the female had accidentally strayed too close to human civilisation. Having caused a panic, she was tranquillized and taken to a nearby national park in Bavaria. She was kept there amongst wolves she had never met until she became 2 years of age. This experience had toughened her up and her reluctance to fighting had disappeared. She became mature and much braver, but being taken from her family and forced into a new one had caused her to become slightly cold towards strangers until she warmed up to them.

    When she reached 2 years of age, the humans decided to release her back into the wild. But - instead of being released back into Germany - she was taken abroad and released into the Vale, where she could start a new life in a wilder habitat than back home in the forests of Europe. Where she could mingle with other wolves, where she could hunt wild prey rather than relying on small mammals and livestock, where she could perhaps join a new pack and even start a family...
