  Appearance:
  
  An anthropomorphic cat. His fur as white as snow, kept reasonably well groomed despite his often more harsh lifestyle. A polite smile or chuckle comes easily enough but the distant gaze of his deep blue eyes reveal a thoughtful somberness. Short and neatly kept brown hair offers variety to his otherwise monotone appearance. A mature demeanor with an athletic yet developed build suggests he is still a young but experienced adult, perhaps close to 30 years of age.
  
  Kalio is normally seen wearing a red leather jacket, the frayed cuffs indicating it has been well worn for some time now. It's long and light, extending down to cover past his knees. Underneath is a simple cotton shirt, usually dark gray. He also tends to wear blue trousers and a pair of lightweight black leather boots. He is never seen without a simple string necklace with a few white feathers attached, a seemingly arbitrary accessory to wear; a memento perhaps? In a sheath on his side attached to a black leather belt, a one-handed katana style sword is kept with him at all times.

  Abilities / Combat:
  
  Kalio uses a katana (wakizashi), a small to medium sized sword sized for one-handed use, as his weapon of choice. Not as large as more commonly used full-sized two-handed swords of similar origins, but light enough for quick and successive strikes and counters. Additionally it allows for his (normally) left paw to be free for other uses, such as aiding in the use of magic; sometimes this is used as a distraction to increase his favor of landing a critical strike. Although primarily a swordsman by training and skill, some minor offensive and healing spells were imparted to him by his former mate. Physically fit but not exceptionally strong, his true aptitude is incredible feline agility and quick thinking in combat situations, a trait that enhances both his physical and magical offensive abilities, at the expense of defensive capacity and overall vitality and stamina.

  Background / History:
  
  Born to a poor family and abandoned at an early age, then brought in by a master that recognized potential talent, Kalio was raised and trained in the ways of the swordsman. While certainly fit from years of training and quite respectably strong by the standards of most, he does not possess exceptional strength compared to the strongest of warriors. With unmatched swiftness even by feline standards, his agility and quick thinking instead work well with his ferocious yet honorable fighting spirit. Honing his sword fighting skills in such a manner, he is a master of evasion and counter attacks.
  
  Early on in adulthood he met another of his kind, a kind and beautiful feline gifted in the ways of magic. Smitten by her charm and grace, it wasn't long after that he devoted himself to her and they become bonded mates for life. For a time, his swordsmanship and her magical abilities were a complemented pair, as they both lived and worked together for the realm. Although never attending noble status in terms of wealth, their skills put to use earned them a positive reputation among the populace, and for a time they lived a content and fruitful life together.
  
  Sadly, fate is indiscriminate and cares not for fairness. In a tragic turn of events during a dire ambush, the life of his mate was taken before his very eyes; a blow that struck his very core. In a blind fit of rage, his sword was plunged in to every enemy his eyes laid upon. As allies came rushing to aide, a swift retreat was already being called by the surviving opposition. Blood from numerous slain foes stained his normally pristine white fur and dripped from his sword that night. It took five guardsmen to hold him back from attempting to chase down the enemy survivors in retreat. Kalio was never the same afterwards.
  
  Fifteen years have passed since that day. Now a lone drifter, he became completely disinterested in work as a guard or soldier. He left his homeland, forfeiting any renown status he had worked so hard for. It was not long before his name became mostly forgotten. Nonetheless, he still relies upon his skills to make a meager living in his travels as a sellsword of sorts for hire. With the primary exception of bringing any harm upon the innocent, Kalio will accept almost any request for sustainable coin. Beast slaying, retrieval of valuables, escort services, and the like. Far from glamorous, it is usually enough to get by. Because it can be difficult to find reliable work, he moves from settlement to settlement often, not typically staying in any one area long enough to form bonds with anyone or make any friends.
  
  What is Kalio looking for? He is a lost soul seemingly robbed of purpose, but still not yet ready to give up living. What he is looking for one cannot say, as he himself does not know. Perhaps one day he'll know when he finds it, or so he wonders.
