• Background

  Born a few years before the Orcish invasion of the Black Morass, Jarick lived peacefully on a homestead with his parents and 3 siblings. His family was rather well known for their botanical knowledge and mixing of herbs to create elixirs, salves, and the like. Jarick had taken more of an interest in the outdoors, though. Fond of hunting and hiking, he often went on expeditions with neighboring villagers into the mountains to bring back food and herbs. By the age of 10, he had become fairly proficient as a woodsman and trapper.
  
  After the initial Orcish Invasion that ended in the sacking of Stormwind and the flood of refugees up north a year prior, news spread of further Orcish advances to the south. Fearing they would reach Hillsbrad, his family had planned to move north to the capital city of Lordaeron to avoid the coming war. However, the Horde unexpectedly invaded by sea, and landed on the shores quite quickly catching many villagers unprepared.
  
  Despite being outmatched by the forces of the Alliance, the Orcs fiercely ravaged the land and burned the villages as they retreated eastward after their failed incursion into Lordaeron. The villagers who couldn't escape into the forests to the north were captured or killed by the Horde raiding parties who looked for treasure and supplies. Separated from his family, Jarick was stolen away into the forests by a gruff-looking older man, who would later tell him that his family never made it out of Hillsbrad.
  
  The man that had rescued him was a long-time family friend and fellow woodsman. A bit of a secretive guy but always friendly, had been a part of the local community for as long as anyone could remember. He took Jarick to a hideaway owned by a paramilitary group hiding out in the mountains. There, Jarick was taught to use short blades and defend himself against Orcs - and later, other Humans. Being a tracker, Jarick had always some degree of stealth and here he was taught to utilize it to its maximum.
  
  Ofcourse, none of this came without a cost. His family was admired for their knowledge of alchemy and toxins. As a militia, this information would give them an immense edge against their rivals and enemy factions. Though Jarick knew only a small amount, it was enough.
