  • A Mirror. A Chain. A Mask. April 12th 2016, 7:03 pm

    I begin to prepare for my hunt. Three items must be built for it.
    
    A mirror that only tells truths. It shows the flaws in people who believe themselves perfect, the ugly things in beautiful people, and those who lie see the truths in themselves. I've contacted a jeweler to make it, and taken a piece of Den Fa's mask to imbue it with. Next, I need a capable enchanter to bring them together.
    
    A chain that binds the darkness, rare for a Shadowlyng to wish to own, but I require it to lock my quarry in place. Black Ashley has signed on to forge the links, with metal taken from the altars of a dozen temples. I'll need a priest to oversee the forging, to ensure the blessed metal doesn't lose its touch.
    
    A mask that hides the identity of the wearer, turning them into a reflection of the person who sees it. I can already use illusions similar to it, but I can not hide myself from my fellow Shadowlyngs. I must use a foreign power to keep my ploy hidden for now.

    Something weird is afoot.
    
    Generally, only a male of Mykael's lineage can be Patriarch, Warlord, or King-- whatever we're calling it now.
    Krysalia is pregnant, I decided it be so, because my pathway to Liore is cut off, and Amanda is with that horrid Orc-- I suppose she loves painful cocks of all sorts.
    
    Regardless of whatever shade I may be throwing my former Queen, things are interesting.
    My seers and oracles tell me my daughter will be both masculine and feminine, but can't tell me how. The Invisibles are aflutter about me, but their mouths are shut. Mykael is a door that I can't open while I'm plotting my own ascension, so I have no idea what will be born when Krysalia gives birth.
    
    This all said, the child will be of sublime mastery. I've been told she has the burning eyes and my same grin, as well as the wings I could ever create out of illusion. Things are about to be interesting, in the coming months.
    
    Shadowlyng children, especially powerful ones, come out very wily. I'll have to make Lacuna love me, whatever they are, but also be loved by others. This city reacts awkwardly to me, like a once abused wife. I've burnt too many bridges, I can't have my potential heir walk over those same ones.

    After the Trys'tet sold themselves to us, bound themselves to our race, the best pairings have always involved the Trys'tet Matriarch and the King of the Shadowlyngs.
    
    Henceforth, I'm going to prepare a decree, that all Trys'tet must be bound to a Shadowlyng through a rite of bonding that will tie them together. This needn't be a romantic tie, but can be a bond of kinship, friendship, siblinghood, or simply statehood.
    
    The Trys'tet gave themselves to us when their Matriarch became the Wife of Trench, and when their Goddess became a concubine of Mykael. They're tied to us willingly, a conquered race and a conquered state. A willing slave doesn't get whipped.
    
    Those exempt are half-blooded Shadowlyng-Trys'tet children, and any mud-blooded Trys'tet who have been born of a pairing with another, lesser race.

    Heirs being sired... Check.
    More Shadowlyngs about.. Check.
    Religious leaders rising, praising the Dark, the Invisibles, and the Gods.. Check.
    
    I can feel it.
    
    This time, I won't need Den Fa at my side.
    This time, I will truly eat a God.
