Mercury

  The Mercury principle is composed of the Water and Air elements, and as such, is a mediator between the volatile or etheric elements, and the fixed elements. Mercury is the messenger of the gods, and is in constant movement between the above and the below. Within the human body, Mercury is the spirit, or the animating life force. Whereas Sulfur is the soul, or the consciousness of the individual, Mercury is the life force that move through the soul and gives it life. As the mediator, it is the vehicle that brings the soul down into the physical world.

  The art of Alchemy is not a trade of sheer chemistry. To be an Alchemist is to know of the Above, and the Below. To understand the soul of every material, to possess the skill to separate soul from body, to purify, and to re-combine.

  Through teachings derived from the Emerald Tablet and his Mentors, Paroh has been initiated into the Art and its secrets. By combining hermetic spirituality with an innate knowledge of herbs and minerals, he is able to unlock the magical properties of common ingredients to heal, to bewitch, to curse or to transmute.

• Formulae

  Paroh categorises his Alchemy into the following: Spagyrics, Decoctions, Oils, Potions and Bombs. In addition to these, Paroh is skilled in the craft of bewerages which may contain powerful benefits as well.

• Spagyrics Spagyrics are created by separating the soul of a material with alcohol or another menstruum. The remaining material is then repeatedly calcified until it becomes a white ash. The purified body and the extracted soul are then combined into a powerful elixir, a spagyric, with varying beneficial effects.

• Decoctions Decoctions are created by boiling a material to extract the essence or soul of it. This is the typical process applied to parts acquired from monsters, to create a tincture that holds the essence of that monster.

• Oils Oils are extracted through various means from a material, which can then be applied on a weapon, on cloth or on skin for protective or beneficial effects.

• Potions Potions are complex alchemical mixtures where multiple ingredients produced through varying means are combined with utmost care and skill to produce powerful liquids with great power in them.

  Bombs Bombs equal Potions in complexity, and use black powder as a base. The magical properties of the ingredients applied to the black powder result in varying effects.
