Though born an apex predator, it was instilled in Zubairad's mind very keenly that even the personifications of might could be brought low by the most unlikely of hands. So many of his brethren, be they the sociable crystal dragons to the most fearsome of chromatics, killed and harvested for their corpses, their worth measured only in the sum of their parts. As that fate almost befell his youngest sister, that much was a lesson he could no longer ignore. Taught from an early age to expect death at the hands of greedy mortals, the crystal wyrm is more than careful when dealing with children of man. However, as is the wont of his kin, he held preternatural urge to socialize with the very masses that would bare their steel if they knew of his true nature. The desire to learn of people, of the world, of anything that could possibly be on such a beautiful star, ruled over his mind more than the instilled fear of death, more than the instinctive bloodlust that came with his draconic ancestry.
As age went by, so did the passing companionship with other mortals. He immersed himself deeply in the world of man, but only ever to slake his insatiable thirst to simply know of anything. It was his very soul, his core religion to burn an unquenchable flame of curiosity, all-consuming and never satisfied. At some point, it blended with confidence and hubris to welcome attempts on his life as the occasional dragonslayer troupe would pop up now and again. The dragon's blood in him lived for so many reasons, but the adrenaline that came with surviving attempts made on one's life was comparable to none. He was by no means a blood-crazed murderer, but he was no tamed creature, either; he is simply a sleeping, distracted beast, and sleeping beasts are bound to wake.
Though Zubairad is vastly learned, eloquent and remarkably well-natured, he is still very much a wild fucking animal and you'd do best to remember that.

Khei Orn Peak, located in the Spine of the World, is a glittering mountain that can be seen from a valley below where a community thrives. As such, Zubairad was often seen as a guardian spirit to the surrounding settlement, guarding them from calamity and the like; he was, after all, an equally impressive being emerging from its lofty heights, glittering as brilliantly as the snow-caps did in the sun, and the people could not help but name the glittering dragon Providence--especially in his aloof kindness, only wanting trinkets or knowledge in return for being left alone. The Temple to Sardior is hardly vacant, despite being bereft of the dragon that would usually guard its territory. Who guards its peaks are rumored to be charges of the wyrm, champions selected in his stead, but who knows for certain? None who have crossed their paths have lived to tell the tale.

Initially dragged out from his shrine in the mountains to Sardior, Zubairad now fills a role as antiquarian to the Flock in their secondary efforts to reclaim lost and dangerous artefacts, be they from the dark annals of history or from the wrong hands. While he has made no pact with the Raven of the Unseelie Court, he also readily offers his services for a mutually beneficial relationship with man, and to assist his Aasimar wife, Zaharah, in the running of her company. Although he holds no sway over her decisions to avoid conflict of interests and issues of nepotism, grasp over power or any overarching positions, he earned his place by putting an untapped font of knowledge to good use. A master of tactics, animalistic predation and taking measure of the hearts of man, his advice is rarely cast aside at the war table.
As of late, he is being made to fill in as defender of the squishier members of the Flock; being trained in the swinging of steel as well as the ways of magic, he takes on the role of a Paladin of Knowledge at the group's disposal. While he isn't the most dexterous of dragons, and not even in a human's skin does he become any more deft, he plays his role as a shield extremely well.
