• Backstory

  Raine White is a very friendly but awkward rabbit that can see dead people!!! She's been able to see and communicate with ghosts for as long as she can remember. She gets along pretty well with ghosts and likes to help them in any way that she can, either by delivering messages to their loved ones, helping them achieve peace and move on, or even just keeping them company. She works and lives with Grim at St. Guinefort's church, carrying out religious services for ghosts, and also serving as a groundskeeper.
  
  Raine was born to an upper class family, but her ability to see ghosts created many problems. Initially it was seen as her having an overactive imagination, and she was scolded for lying about there being people present that nobody else could see. As she got a little older, her family grew concerned that she wasn't simply keeping imaginary friends, but could either be ill or possessed. She was taken to both doctors and churches to be examined, and even received an exorcism, before her parents accepted the fact that their daughter was seeing and communicating with the spirits of the dead. She was kept a secret from the public so as to not tarnish the family name, and was finally surrendered to the care of a church when she was nine years old.
  
  Raine worked as a servant of the church and was told that if she studied and prayed hard enough, she could be freed of her "unholy visions". She quickly learned to lie and hide her ability, doing her best to pretend that she had been cured. This was difficult as ghosts started coming to her for help, and she didn't have the heart to ignore them. Originally the church had wanted Raine to become a nun when she came of age, but it was clear that she was still interacting with spirits. Just as her parents had feared having their name tarnished by Raine, the church too wished to not be associated with her.
  
  Upon reaching adulthood, she was transferred to the church of Saint Guinefort. This was a way to get rid of her, as Saint Guinefort was considered abandoned. She was surprised to meet Grim there, as she was not told that anyone else would be there. Raine quickly latched on to Grim, since he was pretty nice to her and didn't really question her ability to see and communicate with the dead. The fact that Grim himself was dead sort of helped Raine feel more comfortable talking with him, as she had never made friends with anyone before that wasn't a ghost. Raine and Grim are working hard to slowly but surely bringing some life back to the forgotten church.
  
  Recently, she discovered an old book of spells and magic in the basement of the church, and curiosity got the best of her. She's been studying it and trying out some of the things described in the old tome, and she even got tricked by a manipulative ghost into summoning a demon. Oops.
