RAIN 🌧 @rainhwang Rain had always been know as a weirdo among her classmates - actually among everyone who knew her or rather knew about her. No one ever really took the time to get to know her. She was an outcast, and she couldn’t do anything about it. She tried anything she could think of, but people would still keep their distance and whisper as she walked past them. She never really got used to the fingers pointing at her, the hushed voices and the judgmental eyes. She hated the way that people made her into something she wasn’t. Rain never did anything to deserve this kind of treatment, besides being born into the wrong family. Rain has always been alone with her mother. It has always just been the two of them. Her mother owns a little shop specializing in mystical paraphernalia - things such as tarot cards, talking boards, crystals and anything connected to the spiritual world. It is a shop most people have never been inside, all they do is judge it from a distance. Rain's mother always told her, it was because people are scared of the unknown and they don’t know any better. She told Rain that she should embrace her spiritual side, but with time all she wanted was to hide it. She hated that people looked down on her because of her mother’s beliefs. Rain has been called numerous things throughout her life, every insult surrounding her mother’s profession. All the way from preschool to her graduating high school, she never really had any friends due to people seeing her as “the strange girl who talks to ghost and plays with voodoo dolls” even if none of it was even remotely close to the truth. Just as people distanced themselves from Rain, she distanced herself from everything related to her mother’s shop. It wasn’t because she also looked down upon her mother’s beliefs, she just hated the consequences of being related to something people had so many assumptions about. So when she started college, she chose to distance herself from it completely. She didn’t want another school experience as the outcast, she wanted friends for once, even if it meant lying about where she came from. She doesn’t call it lying though because she never says anything that isn’t true, she simply just doesn’t answer the questions people ask her, and she never talks about her family. That is why she has gotten a reputation as quite a mystery. Nobody really knows anything about her, and people have stopped asking because everyone receives the same response from her. This doesn’t mean she’s totally closed off though. Rain has become a very social person and she is almost always seen with at least one of her sorority sisters by her side. She just doesn’t talk a lot about herself and where she comes from. Even if she doesn’t like that she has to hide who she actually is, she doesn’t regret it. She has gotten herself quite a lot of friends after starting college, including a full house of sorority sisters. But becoming a sorority girl changed her - and most people would probably say for the worse. She has become one of the girls she despised during high school, but for her this is survival of the fittest, and if she has to be a bitchy sorority girl to finally fit into the crowd, that is what she will be. |
