  Damien was raised in an orphanage in the port city of Malgrave. He never knew his parents, no memories, no photo, not even a trinket. The orphanage was known as The Guardians Grotto. It was a run-down building off of a dock waterlogged and falling apart. The adults that ran it had no real love or care for the place, only the coin that it generated. When his sixth birthday came around, he decided he could not take it there anymore. And in the middle of the night, he tied off a few sheets and climbed down the side of the building and as soon as feet hit the dock he bolted into the dark alleys of the big city.
  
  Life on the street was nearly as horrible as living in the orphanage. There was always someone that wanted to take advantage of you and you had to be clever to earn your next meal. You are forced to adapt or die. Steal, cheat and lie just to wake up and do it again. After two years of this lifestyle he learned a good deal of tricks to hide and get to hard to reach areas to evade any pursuers. He was on his way to being an accomplished thief.
  
  On the run from the constables, Damien found himself roaming the noble district. He squeezed through the bars of a hedge gate and into the grounds of a noble house. That’s when he met her, Genavieve Desdicara. She was a tan chimp furre a few years older than him and built like a rail, thin and lanky wearing a loose tunic and tight pants. She brought the shy vulpine out of his little shell, adventurous and confident, everything he wanted to be.
  
  Every day he snuck onto the grounds to play with her, posing as one of the helps children. She taught him how to read and write in exchange for his wild stories of life outside of those iron bars. She was enthralled by his roguish lifestyle. For four years the duo was inseparable, terrorizing the merchant district with their antics.
  
  He was twelve when the need for adventure called to him and spurred him on to join a convoy leaving the big city behind him to travel to Eyre. Once Damien got there he set up a small little base camp in the woods outside an establishment named “The Leaky Mug” a local tavern that seemed to be the focal point of this hub town.
  
  Damien learned that small towns pose their own problems as well for street urchin like Damien. Their constables pay closer attention as there is less of a route to cover. Not to mention the lack of hiding spaces and alleys to duck into.
  
  After a while of living on his own Genevieve came down to Eyre with a few new tricks. She had just learned of birds and bees and my, was she a flirt. Together they banded their efforts to gather a small band of young delinquents and form them into quite the capable guild of thieves.
  
  As he was checking the community board for an indication of shipments he saw a unique opportunity present itself. Three spots for apprenticeships were offered by the local potion shop owner Annabelle Sombie. The fox was ambitious and thirsty for what knowledge this dark mentor had to impart.
  
  Damien learned much from Miss Sombie’s tutelage over the years, magic’s of conjuration, shadow and necromancy as well as potion making. His duties included running her magic shop when she was out gathering members for her cultish society. Annabelle left her apprentices and magic shop to pursue a spot at the illustrious Hawkmage Academy.
  
  When she left, it was sudden; she left a good number of her tomes and arcane materials. He still maintained the shop, using its cellar as a meeting spot for his guild. In his free time Damien was driven to research as much as he could, teaching himself further schools of magic and developed his own methods of artifice. With his newly acquired knowledge, he designed his first prototype energy core and assembled his first ever construct, a clay golem named Lableu.
  
  Sombie’s other apprentice; furious over her abandonment went on a rampage through the town destroying and burning buildings to the ground. Damien fought back to mitigate the raging inferno with sword and spell. During the fight an orphanage caught on fire. The screams, the dreadful wails… there was nothing he could do to help them as the building burned. That is when Damien snapped, vengeance had to be delivered upon his former friend. From his cloak was removed an obsidian skull etched with purple swirls all around the surfaces. The Memento Mori, a sinister relic that imprisons ones soul and tortures them relentlessly. Its dark energy bore in through Damien's eyes, digging into his spirit and permanently blinding him as much as his rage had. His body was broken and battered from the fighting he helped as much as he could before finally succumbing to his wounds.
  
  
  But our story does not end there…
  
  
  
  Betrayed by his friend, Damien’s spirit was sent to the realm of Chatengo, Lord of Treachery, and Dark Prime of Despair. Chatengo's pit is a labyrinth of watery tunnels and chasms, dimly lit by luminescent seaweed. It held illusions of loved ones, meant to trick and torture the wayward souls that were sent to it's depths. He had to get out of that hell, there was just so much that he still wanted to do, so a cunning plan to escape was conceived.
  
  As any devout follower of The Primes knows, Chatengo’s personality was shattered into two Aspects after being cast from The Primes, Amoi and Enmoi. Amoi insists that love means promising anything to ensure the cooperation of the beloved, and that love can be bargained for, and rightfully earned. Enmoi does not believe that love exists, and is forever attempting to cheat the other Primes. He traveled to the beautiful underwater palaces of Amoi and the cloudy grottos of Enmoi. He fooled them both by convincing them both that the other in a bid for power sought to destroy the other. And as they gathered their forces to strike at one another he made his escape among the chaos taking advantage of the lack of guards and jumped in through the gaping maelstrom that lead to the over world. As he emerged through the portal, he found his spirit now holds a mark on his left cheek. Only time will tell if this is a curse or a blessing for his brazen deceit of the lord of treachery.
