• The Once And Future King

  She is the legendary king who lead Britain to unity and to victory many centuries ago. Widely regarded as a male throughout history, she lived and served her country under the premise of being male, and went to great lengths to ensure that her true identity was never revealed. She was the only person capable of removing the sword Caliburn from its stone, proving that, despite her gender, she was the child of prophecy who would lead Britain out of the Dark Period. During that time, the people living in fear of savage invasions only wanted a strong king, and the Knights Of The Round Table would follow none other than an excellent commander. Having met these criteria, no one questioned her. Though considered fair, selfless and chivalrous as she always stood at the front of the army while defeating her enemies, she was ruthless in battle. Many enemies and civilians died, and it was said that no King had slaughtered more people than she...Even so, the King's choices were always considered correct. She kept to a strict oath that a King is not human, and thus cannot protect the people while possessing human emotions, which was something that eventually ate away at the faith of some of her most reputable Knights. Regardless, she did not feel outraged nor betrayed - she simply viewed their desertion as a typical result of government, and there were those whispers amongst Knights that their King did not understand them.
  
  After the overwhelming victory at the Battle of Badon Hill, her country returned to the peace of which she had dreamed - if only for a relatively short period of time. The affair between her wife Guinevere and her most loyal knight, Lancelot, had been discovered by political enemies who sought to destroy and soil her name. While she had been aware of their affair and had even forgiven their actions, she acted as a King first and foremost in the eyes of her people and ordered Guinevere's execution. Left with no other choice, Lancelot attempted to save her, killing several of his fellow knights including Gawain's brothers, Gareth and Gaheris, in the process. Lancelot, who was considered the perfect knight, Guinevere, the queen who had made her beloved betray his duty, and Altria, the king who blamed herself for her loyal knight's despair, all suffered from the resulting fallout. His disloyalty had fractured the balance within the Knights Of The Round Table. This incident eventually became the trigger of war and carnage, and the country shattered to pieces in the flames of war. Despite her valiant efforts to placate the dissent, she was mortally wounded by the traitorous knight, and her "son", Mordred, during the Battle of Camlann.
  
  Her wounded body was brought to The Holy Isle, and as she lay dying, she appealed to the broken world around her for the opportunity to seek the Holy Grail and save her country from the brink of destruction. . .
