→ Physical Description: A tall, lithe figure with all black clothing and odd fashion choices. She dresses like a ballerina in the sense that she layers a lot of tight fitting articles; she wears a lot of loose things, too, which are always transparent. Relatively no breasts but wide hips and shoulders, kind of like the queen from The Prince of Egypt. Sterile. Odd to see up close. Heavily tattooed, and each possesses a meaning. Incredibly dense bones and muscle, so she's way stronger than her thin frame suggests and her bones don't break easily. When her hair is lifted up in the back, ten small charms are attached like piercings along the edges of her hairline in a neat line. Most are precious stones that boost things like strength and courage, and others are simple good luck charms. Small, golden, faintly glowing bioluminescent spots flow around her body in neat but not uniform lines. They heavily resemble the bioluminescence in Avatar, but most are dimmed because of tattoo ink. |
→ Personality: Adrenalin junkie. Drug junkie. Gets genuinely bothered by others' sadness, and up in arms over bad treatment. She's hardy and abrasive, and often rubs people the wrong way. Doesn't bend on terms, and usually gets what she wants regardless; would be a terrible salesperson but is a great leader. Has a light and unworried air; she's good at diffusing tense situations and can put anyone worrying about something back in the moment. Gets restless easily. Her mental illnesses are a large part of who she is. She struggles with finding meaning in anything, and the singular reason that she is still alive today is because she believes that while other people are the only reason others get sad, other people are also the only reason others get happy. She has a firm belief that nothing she does has any real consequence on the world, but she also believes that the smallest thing you do to someone can change their entire life. She's agnostic, but she still has a firm belief that whoever or whatever made life is just some asshole who wanted people to play their game and suffer. She genuinely loves other people no matter who they are or what they've done because of these beliefs. She'll do anything for anyone that shows any amount of decency, and doesn't care what happens to her in the process, because she's also suffered from depersonalization for a long time. |
▸ Telekinesis Simple manipulation of objects. She can't control water, classifiably wet things, or things over 200 pounds. ▸ Healing Produces a glowing, golden substance that behaves like water in zero gravity from herself. It can be used to heal, if put near an injury. However, if there is anything like a bullet or shrapnel inside the laceration, she has to get it out, and she can't control who it goes to. It's a time consuming process. It takes her focus if she has to dig, because she could potentially slice nerves (which she can't heal), and digging around in someone's body has to be painful for them. ▸ Night Vision Her eyes work a lot like a cat's. When there's not enough light, her slitted pupils expand. Because she glows on her own, she can see in completely black rooms. |
▸ Adaptation If she absolutely cannot survive with her current body's functions and abilities for more than two days, her body will change itself to make it where she can survive for more than two days. If she's somewhere that doesn't have oxygen and she needs oxygen to breathe, her cells will change to whatever chemical is most likely for whatever else it needs to change. If she's about to die from malnutrition or extreme hunger, she'll begin getting nutrition from the sun, or gamma rays, or something of the sort. It was a handy tool when she was going from planet to planet, but it's not used much anymore. ▸ Compulsions She can't fully control someone, and the compulsions aren't strong enough to fully cement her demands, but she can get someone to stop talking for a minute or two if she tells them to. If she's in battle, she can say "drop your weapon," and if the person is susceptible to compulsions, they'll drop it. She can't tell them to do things like kill themselves, since the brain would recognize what they're doing and stop them. |
▸ Telepathy It's less telepathy and more a sophisticated sense of smell. Humans can sense how a person feels by scent (x), and Selene can do this and narrow it down to who they're mad at or what they're thinking about and how they feel about it. The ability can't really be nullified or warded against since it has no supernatural roots, but certain things can hinder it - wind, layers of clothing, etc. When she grows to recognize a specific person's scent, these work less effectively. ▸ Teleportation She can teleport by traveling through shadows. She enters a different plane of existence to do so, and there's a time gap from when she goes through to when she arrives. She can take up to five other people with her on her journey, but she'll be winded afterwards. If they don't hold on during the journey, they'll be lost among the shadows and unable to be found again. The people who participate never leave good reviews on the experience. |
