• ... Taking a moment to read the following notice:
  The way I roleplay my character's abilities are not necessarily how everyone else should play them.
  Seres is a half-fae, and so a lot of her magic requires a few more preps than (what I would consider to be) an 'average' sum of preps, particularly for attacks. This is because I feel that her human heritage would make it more difficult for her to grasp the concept of fairy magic.

  • L a n t e r n ;

    Racial ;
    (1+ preps): Allows the user to use and control a small sphere of white light-energy. The light is usually a hand-held or fingertip-based, but can be moved off of the hand if the wielder posesses enough skill to do so. Can be used defencively, to briefly blind or disorientate the opposition. Generally used as a torch; to provide light in dark spaces, or simply to dazzle. Stronger variations of this ability may be used as defence against dark or shadow-based magics. Using this ability will cause very little damage to the user, though prolonged useage may result in burning or fatigue.
    
    
  • L u c i f e r ' s - S p e a r ;

    Racial ;
    (3-6 preps): Allows the user to fire arrow-shaped bolts of orange light-energy. This is an offensive attack, though may also be used for novelty tasks, such as cutting into wood or stone. The force of each arrow increases with the number of preps. For each srt of preps determines how many bolts may be fired at once, for instance: 3 preps = 3 bolts. Prolonged useage of this ability will cause fatigue exceptionally quickly and may eventually result in the user losing consciousness.
    
    
  • E i r ' s - B a n d a g e ;

    Learnt ;
    (2+ preps. Final amout of preps depends on the amount of damage dealt): Allows the user to manipulate an ellipse of green light-energy, which has healing properties. The size of the ellipse may vary, depending on the user's wishes. The rate of healing also varies, but generally increases with more preps. This ability will heal the reciever's injuries, though may not be used for ressurection. Using this ability will cause fatigue very quickly to the user- with more severe inguries, the user will often feel similliar agony to the injuries healed, without sustaining any physical wounds themselves.
    
    
  • A n g h a r r a d h ' s - S h i e l d ;

    Learning (15%) ;
    (4-7 preps. Final amount of preps depends on the strength and size of the shield): Allows the user to form a shield, stemming from their forearm, using amber light-energy. This shield can be used whilst attached to the arm during battle to ward off physical attacks, however, with further preps, it can also be detached from the arm to create a much larger shield, at which point its shape can be altered to fit the caster's wishes. Using this ability will cause fatigue incredibly quickly, often resulting in the caster losing consciousness, particularly for larger shields that separate themselves from the caster.

  • I l l u s i o n ;

    Racial ;
    (3-8 preps/4-10 preps): Allows the user to create illusions either within the reciever's head, or upon the space around them. Illusions which occur within another person's head requires the other character's concent and, naturally, take more preps to accomplish. As the number of preps increases, as does the time span within which the user can maintain the illusion; however, the user may wish to disperse the illusion at any time before the limit is reached. The general rule is amount of preps + 2 = maximum amount of posts the illusion may last, for instance: 5 preps = 7 posts. Using this spell will cause fatigue to the user extremely quickly. If the user recieves damage whilst using an illusion, the injury may result in a loss of control and disperse the image, depending on the severity of the injury. If the user falls unconcious whilst maintaining an illusion, the image is immediately dispersed. The risk of fainting increases with the length of the illusion, and then increases again when using mind-illusions.

    Racial ;
    (0 preps, requires the user to be stood within hearing distance): Requires the reciever's concent to be used. Allows the user to 'glamour' the reciever into following their commands. The duration of the influence is determined by the caster and how long it takes the recipient to comply with her command. If a task is being carried out and the influence is dispersed, it is then up to the reciever's player as to whether or not they will finish the assignment. The ability itself does not cause any real damage to the user, though influencing another person often comes with unpredictable consequences.
    
    
  • C o n j u r i n g ;

    Learnt ;
    (1+ preps. Final amount of preps depends on the mass of the object being conjured): Allows the user to create an object using other, unrealted materials. The materials themselves must be equivalent to the mass of the item the user is attempting to conjure. The rate of failure is 2-in-6. To determine whether or not the conjure has succeeded, the user must roll a 6-sided dice once; if it lands on the number 2 or 4, the spell has failed and all resources used will return to their original state. Using this ability has next-to-no effect on the user, though consistantly repeated use may result in fatigue.
    
    
  • E n c h a n t i n g ;

    
    Learnt ;
    (3+ preps. Final amount of preps depends on the spell being used to enchant an object): Allows the user to merge magical properties on to an otherwise non-magical object. This variation of the spell can only be used upon objects that the caster has previously conjured- it cannot be cast on random objects, and to attempt to do so will inflict minor damage upon the caster. Once the object that is to be used for enchanting is prepared, the caster must then channel a spell through it, that corresponds with what they intend the enchantment to be; for example: channelling the spell 'Eir's Bandage' would have a healing effect on the user of the enchanted object, and would take 3 preps to complete. If the channelling is interrupted, the caster will receive injuries and need to start again.

• With assistance from Voyn- a talking book, given to her by Rayneth's woodland-dwelling goddess, Abnoba- Seres has been able to develop her knowledge of medicines, herbal remedies and tonics over the time that she has been stationed as Rayneth's senior healer; before deciding to delve into the medicinal world, the half-fae relied solely upon her magic as a means of curing other's ailments.
  
  Although Seres is no longer reliant upon Voyn when formulating medicines for her patients, she still feels that her knowledge is simply not extensive enough in that, despite being able to cure minor illnesses and major injuries, she does not possess the knowledge to be able to cure major illnesses at this point- at present, she can lessen the symptoms of major diseases, but is not able to completely eradicate any from the body. Furthermore, Seres is not particularly keen on performing surgical procedures, such as removing debris from within a person's skin, which she feels is another weakness within her medical ability.
  
  Overall, however, Seres is a very skilled healer- her skill set is perhaps comparable to that of a modern day doctor- and is recognised as being the senior healer as a result of her extensive knowledge.

• Seres's weaknesses, particularly those that address 'all fae', do not necessarily apply to how you wish to RP your fae character.
  A lot of her weaknesses have been borrowed from various other sites and applied on to my own character- simply because I have chosen to set these as her weaknesses, does not under any circumstance mean that you should as well.

    As a half-fae whose magical ability is very much reliant on the use of light, creatures who are able to use dark magic naturally have the advantage against her. Although the two forces could very easily counter each other and cause a neutral effect, because of Seres's human heritage, her fae magic is not nearly as strong as it could be, which leaves her very vulnerable to shadow-based attacks.

    For the majority of fae- not all- their magical essence is very pure, even if it is used for mischevious purposes. In a situation where Seres is faced with dark magic, would be very similliar to how her own magic would react to 'unholy' magic, in that they both have the potential to equal each other out. However, her human heritage again gives her the slight disadvantage, which makes her simillarly vulnerable to being over-powered by 'unholy' magic.

  • T r u e - N a m e ;

    
    All fae, including half-breeds, possess a 'True Name'. Those who know a fae's True Name can use it to command that particular fae to do virtually anything, for as long as it excludes: Killing or purposely causing harm to themselves; setting them a task that will take longer than a year to complete; setting them a task that is impossible to accomplish; commanding the fae from a distance, the fae must be within ear-shot for a command to be valid, the only exception to this rule is summoning.
    A fae's True Name may also be used to release them.
    (In short, you could play fae ping-pong by having two people who know the fae's True Name telling them to do this and that and contradicting each other. In the case of contradictory orders, the fae will obey the most recent command.)
    
    
  • I r o n ;

    
    Items which are made of, or are lined with iron, are a massive weakness to the fae. Iron messes with Glamour Magic and can easily dispell illusions or prevent spells being cast completely. In the situation where illusion comes into contact with iron, a dice roll will determine whether or not the illusion is dispersed or simply weakened: If the dice lands on an even number, the illusion will break; if it lands on an odd number, the illusion will be damaged, the extent to which will be determined by how high the number is. A similliar dice-roll will be used to decide if glamour spells can be cast at all.
    In addition to iron conflicting with Glamour, in some pure-blood fae races, prolonged physical contact with iron can potentially cause illness and eventually death. Fae races are painfully allergic to iron. However; Seres is a half-fae. Although prolonged exposure to iron will not cause death, it will weaken her magic considerabley and could potentially make her ill. Prolonged exposure will also put her in a massive degree of pain, though simply brushing the metal with her skin would only cause brief inflammation.

    No fae can tell a direct lie, with one or two exceptions. They are, however, permitted to withold information and simply refuse to answer if questioned. They are also permitted to twist the truth in order to get themselves out of- or into- any situation.
    
    
  • S o u l - D e f e c t s ;

    
    Full-blooded faes do not possess souls in the conventional sense. However; because of Seres' human heritage, she instead possesses a soul which is a complex mess between mortal and immortal. As a result, if death occurs, ressurection is possible, though the process would be far more difficult and time-consuming than it would be otherwise. If ressurection occurs, she will only be entitled a semi-complete mortal soul and so her magic ability will be diminished as a direct result. In having a not-complete soul, also comes the potential of her becoming a corrupt and darkened creature. Similarly; if Seres were to give birth, her magic ability would also fade and instead be passed on to the child, although her soul would remain complete.
    
    
  • T h e - D a r k ;

    
    Seres has a crippling fear of the dark; she believes that it stemmed from her childhood, though she has never really been certain as to why or how it came about. As a result, she is rarely seen without a lantern, and is hesitant to work past sunset; Seres is liable to go into a state of panic should she be out in the dark. Furthermore, Seres has an additional fear of creatures that resemble or lurk in shadows, for similliar reasons.
