Vague Memories

  • Snail sometimes remembers people it has met before, but not always. If it does remember a person, it usually remembers them as a category of thing -- the way you or I might think of "cats" as all belonging to a category of creature, but might not necessarily know if we are meeting the same black cat again or a new black cat. If Snail met and remembered someone named "Bob," the next time it met Bob it might only know that it is meeting a Bob, not the Bob. There might be hundreds, for all it knows.

  • Though it is now much too large to be eaten, the Snail is still terrified of birds, lizards, and anything it could possibly mistake to be a bird or lizard.
