  The Continuity
  
  In the distant future of the 24th century, humans are at the height of civilization and power on Earth. Poverty is at an all time low, religious feuds are beginning to subside, and humanity is starting to understand what it truly means to be human.
  
  But not all is well. There is a conspiracy threatening to cast a shadow on the planet larger than the two World Wars combined, and at the center of it is a device capable of transporting people hundreds of light-years away: the Rejoin Device.
  
  Meanwhile, the lofty Marvians look upon the Earth from their floating island, Marvee, hidden from sight and technology alike. The spiritual inhabitants of Marvee learned the secrets of the universe long before the humans, and have become suspicious of the brewing conspiracy.
  
  Add the enigmatic Dragons to the mix and you have a story reaching across time: a story of philosophy, of betrayal, of camaraderie, and of an ambiguous sense of right and wrong!

  Who Is Stormbringer?
  
  Stormbringer is one of the last Dragons alive, his race having been hunted to near-extinction in the 14th and 15th centuries. Some remaining Dragons have chosen to blend in with humanity, taking human forms and interacting with human society. Most have fled to Tenebris, a dimension carefully balanced against the physical dimension, and Earth in particular.
  
  Only just over three hundred Dragons remain, and only six of Stormbringer's kind, the Dragonlords. Part of the Dragons' ruling class, Stormbringer led the Dragons' military before their near-extinction, and continues to protect those Dragons choosing to remain on Earth.
  
  Bindings
  
  The Races of Rataka (Marvians and Dragons, and later, the Humans as well) are able to manipulate the energy of the universe to suit their needs. This is done by binding one's soul to one of the seven Composite Spirits of the universe, granting that person the ability to control a particular aspect of physics.
  
  Legends state that the Great Creator forged the universe from a string of infinite length, made of pure imagination. But the Great Creator couldn't spend all of time molding and shaping the universe, so He left it in the capable hands of another of his creations: Statera, the Primary Spirit of Balance. Statera's charge was to mediate the energy of the universe -- to ensure the "string cannot snap". But eternity and everything became too much for Statera.
  
  So the Great Creator examined her plight, and created for her two brothers: the Primary Spirits of Order and Chaos. Statera's younger brothers helped her manage the flow of energy in the universe enthusiastically, reveling in the Great Creator's magnificent creation. Energy was concentrated at a single point, and the Great Creator's One Calculation stood ready and waiting to be solved.
  
  But then Order and Chaos got into an argument. Chaos wanted to manage energy his own way; Order insisted on following his older sister's rules. The quarrel eventually resulted in a violent battle. To prevent the light at the beginning of the universe from extinguishing, and to distract her brothers long enough to intervene in the fight, Statera exploded the point of light.
  
  She removed from her brothers their power to destroy and bound it to all of life, in hopes that the various civilizations destined to evolve would be better caretakers of the power of free will. This power became the seven Composite Spirits.

• Explanation of Statistics

  Execution is how the character conducts him- or herself in business and combat. Strength determines the character's physical prowess, intelligence determines the character's ability to solve problems, and charisma determines the character's ability to persuade.
  
  Resolution is how well the character can counter another's execution. Endurance determines the character's ability to withstand physical attacks, willpower determines the character's ability to resist battles of the mind, and equanimity determines the character's composure under pressure.
  
  Reaction is how the character responds to a situation. Dexterity determines the character's hands-on skills and agility, resourcefulness determines how well the character can use his or her surroundings to an advantage, and craftiness determines the character's ability to use trickery to cause a turnabout.
