Bear School Armor
Armor from the School of the Bear focuses on defense and is heavier than armor worn by other schools such as the Wolf, Griffin, Viper, and Cat. The torso is covered in a chainmail coat worn unver a leather chest harness, the padded sleeves of a gambeson are worn under plate metal shoulder and bracers, and the leather boots are worn with plated greaves that extend over the top of the foot. The chainmail coat hangs down to the knees with a section of gambeson sewn on to cover the calves like a long coat. A piece of mountain bear fur is worn on the non-dominant shoulder to represent the wearer as one that has passed the Trial of the Mountains.

Personality: Aren is one of the last of the School of the Bear, a splinter group of the Order of Witchers dedicated to monster hunting. The School of the Bear broke from the Order of Witchers under the guidance of Grandmaster Arnaghad and banished to the frozen Amell Mountains. The splintering was done because Arnaghad’s thoughts on how to be a Witcher conflicted with the Order's teachings, the School of the Bear's focus on martial power, and Arnaghad’s attack on another Witcher over a contract. The disbanding of the School of the Bear has had a profound influence on Aren. His indifferent and borderline nihilistic nature is likely due to a powerful feeling of resentment for humans in general and his loss of purpose as a monster hunter, though he maintains something of caustic and smarmy wit about him when interacting with others, even in times of lethal conflict. Despite appearing morally bankrupt, Aren still maintains his attributes of being a protector at heart, but sees his assistance and knowledge as being unwanted. He demonstrates a soft spot and a protective attitude toward those who have been wronged. Aren tends to be rather quick and analytical, in direct contrast to his lackadaisical personality. By nature, he is an exceedingly brave warrior who will jump headfirst into incredibly dangerous and enigmatic situations that most others would hesitate to even embark on. In the midst of these scenarios, he tends to keep a calm, calculated, and collected nature about him that allows him to think rationally and instinctively.

Aard: The Aard sign directs a blast of telekinetic energy to stagger opponents, leaving them open for a subsequent attack. Aard can also blow out any existing fires, blast open poorly secured doors, or punch through cracked or damaged walls. When Aren concentrates on casting, Aard turns into a bubble of telekinetic energy that focuses around the Aren and expands outward with destructive force.

Igni: The Igni sign causes a burst of fire that can repel and ignite opponents, as well as start fires. When Aren concentrates on casting, Igni turns the burst of fire into a sustained stream of sparks and flames.

Quen: The Quen sign forms a protective field around Aren that absorbs a limited amount of damage. When Aren concentrates on casting, Quen creates a bubble of protective energy that is stronger than the original form but is more draining on the Witcher and requires him to remain in place.

Yrden: The Yrden sign forms a circular, magical trap. The trap triggers when traversed by a foe, causing knock back, damage, and a chance of inflicting ailments on its targets Most foes that wander into the ring are significantly slowed.

Axii: The Axii sign can charm an opponent's mind to stun them, temporarily eliminating them from combat. However, the stun effect disappears after seven seconds or when the target receives damage. This sign can be used by Aren to calm his mount, animals, or on people to gain information or benefits. This sign can usually only affect one person at a time and its effects are visible to other people in the vicinity. When Aren concentrates on casting, Axii forces an enemy to temporarily become an ally and fight on your side during a conflict for a short time.
