Interests and hobbies

Sewing
Over the past century or so, Vivian has taken up the hobby of sewing. Needing to fix or tailor his own clothes had a very heavy hand in that, as visiting the same shop over and over again without ever really aging became an issue. He is able to mend things for a small fee, but normally does it for free unless the task is extremely daunting. He is able to make his own clothing and clothes for others, though in the interest of maintaining a distance from people as to not inadvertently attract them, he generally turns down requests of this nature.

Journaling
Vivian has also begun journaling as recently as a century or so ago. Once a journal is filled, he removes pages relevant to his research on vampirism, and burns the rest. This practice has been considered odd by many, but he retains information very easily - the pages on vampirism are kept strictly for archival purposes. Stray pages may be kept every so often if they contain other information that interests him, though these are few and far between. Apart from excerpts and info on vampirism, he generally tends to journal about day to day happenings, things of interest, strange encounters, and food he eats.

Reading
It might come as no surprise that the vampire enjoyed reading, and even less of a surprise that he enjoyed reading any and everything he could get his hands on pertaining to vampires and the supernatural. He has been known to pay handsomely for rare literature on the topics, though is not above getting even with anyone that would dare sell him something fake. He does enjoy simple fairytale books however, as he considers them based in reality rather than pure myth. After all, most tall tales have some credibility to their origin, and that's what he seeks in reading things that seem below his academic level.

Book Restoration
Despite his habit of almost ritualistically destroying his journals as soon as they're filled, Vivian has quite an interest in preserving knowledge other people have recorded. He has a small room in his home dedicated to this practice, though he does tend to carry tools with him to mend a spine or replace a cover on the fly. He has been known to interrupt people reading or mistreating books to help them better take care of them - an ounce of prevention, etc. He has been told this is 'annoying', but doesn't seem to care much.

Stargazing
He most certainly can't tell you much about celestial bodies, what it means when Jupiter is in retrograde, or when the planets will align, but he very much enjoys a quiet evening by himself, every so often, with a glass of brandy, watching the stars. He likes them, he says, because the sky is the one thing that everyone experiences the same. Sure, stars have come and gone, and will continue to do so, but the night sky and all the mysteries it entails will forever be available for anyone and everyone to gaze upon and appreciate. He thinks this to be a bit silly, so he tends to keep this practice to himself.

Exotic sweets
When he does indulge his sweet tooth, he likes to try candies he's never had before, and is always on the quiet lookout for new sweets and chocolates to purchase. Desserts fall into this category despite being a bit more difficult to come by, and while he would be willing to take up baking as a hobby of his own, he rarely finds anyone willing to sit down and teach him. He is a halfway decent cook for someone that doesn't normally consume regular food, but baking is a science entirely beyond him. So he prefers to stick to purchasing delicacies for himself - and has been known to share them with associates if they are close.

More intimately...

Romantic Relationships
Vivian has never had anything he considers a serious relationship. This is in part because of what he is - disregarding the fact White Court vampires are still considered to be the most 'human' of all vampire types (able to produce children, most notable) he has never wanted to get close enough to anyone to get into what most would define as a 'relationship'. Not only are they difficult to maintain for someone of his personality type, he doesn't seem to think he has the time for them despite being effectively immortal. What he's less willing to admit, however, are two things: He would not want to outlive someone he managed to fall in love with, and he does not believe anyone would truly ever love him considering his feeding is addictive. He would have a very hard time believing any man that said they loved him simply because he's convinced they would only be under the spell of the demon within him. (That is not to say it isn't worth attempting, though keep in mind he is very dense when it comes to flirting - he will not pick up on it right away.) (We are also not going to talk about how the "opposite" emotions cause pain to White Court vampires- even though he is a halfling, technically, he is forever wary falling in love with someone would cause him physical pain to touch them.)

Friendships
He is unwilling to refer to people as 'friends' simply because he finds the title childish and informal. He much prefers the term 'associates' or 'acquaintances', though will treat them with the same loyalty and respect as anyone would someone they'd call a friend. When spending time with people he considers 'associates', he does his best to ensure they are enjoying themselves, as this not only helps him skim-feed the emotion from the activity, it also ensures he's doing his part to keep the person as an 'associate'. He is much more willing to amass people he is familiar with as it gives him opportunities to passively feed, and despite seeming very uptight and stuffy, he does enjoy fun and having it.

Sexual encounters
As stated, in a pinch when Viv needs to feed fast and fully, such as after getting injured or doing something very strenuous (such as fleeing from hunters, etc) he will turn to lust as his emotion of choice to feed on. In these cases, depending on the severity of the situation, he may either be very forward with his intentions(lethal hunger), or somewhat coy in his approach(non-lethal hunger). If he is not seeking to feed he will not actively hunt for this - however, he will not turn down a free meal if someone is interested in taking him to bed. Typically in these situations he can sense the lustful intentions of people, and will respond favorably - though he may initially play hard to get. (F-list here.)
