personality Ever since her childhood, Eithne has been underestimated based on her innocent appearance. While this irked her to no end as a girl, it is something she utilizes to its full advantage as a woman. Sweet and demure, she seems the perfect image of a princess - a role she plays rather well whenever it suits her. Batting her eyelashes and curtseying at just the right moment has prevented her political rivals of finding out that she is a formidable opponent in the game. Truth be told she is a shrewd politician, possessing a sharp mind and an unfailing loyalty to her brother. She is completely ruthless and stone-cold if something stands in his way or threatens his rule, and is every bit willing to do whatever it takes to secure his position - even at her own cost. She is fiercely protective of her family and their legacy and will go to great lengths to keep all of it safe. Those who know this side of her often perceive her as cold and arrogant, but there is more to her than her iron exterior. She is intelligent and witty, easily able to keep up with her brothers - even when their tone becomes juvenile. A talented equestrian, she has a great love for horses and spends more time in riding leathers than she does in expensive dresses if she can help it. She is level-headed, contrary to the myth of redheads having bad tempers, and quite calm in her demeanour. Towards those she holds dear she is caring and loving, although not to the point of smothering. |
EACHDRAIDH
history Eithne was born as the second child of the ruling couple of A'Ghleann, commonly known as The Vale. As the only girl out of a flock of four, Eithne always enjoyed special attention from her mother, the court and her three brothers. Her father, the king, saw her as any other of his children however and, despite it being seen as a breach of proper etiquette, allowed her to be tutored in swordsmanship and horseback-riding on the same level as her brothers. He also made sure she would be his successor should something happen to her older brother, making her second in line to the throne of A'Ghleann. At a fairly young age Eithne had her first taste of war, when a dispute on the border of A'Ghleann caused already existing tension with a neighbouring country to rise to a boiling point. The war ended after only a few battles and a siege to one of the fortresses by the border. After much bloodshed and wasted resources, a stray arrow took the king of The Vale in the neck, placing his then only 14-year-old son on the throne. The new king's first decision was a surrender, which lost A'Ghleann a lot of land, reducing it to something akin to a city state. With the glory days of her childhood behind her, Eithne became heavily invested in politics. Wanting to give her brother her full support and keep The Vale a stable region, she has done everything in her power to strengthen and advice him ever since. Her investment in the political scene of the region has also meant that she has turned away every single attempt of an official courtship since she came of age at 16. |

appearance and apparel Eithne's appearance is very characteristic to her family; red hair, pale skin and freckles spotting her entire body. She is tall for a woman of her time, which combined with her thin body makes her look rather lanky. She has narrow hips, a very small bust - a general lack of feminine curves in general. When wearing the traditional dresses of A'Ghleassian culture it is hard to tell that she is actually fairly muscular, having practised various forms of physical exercises since childhood. Her large blue doe-eyes and rather girlish face makes her look far younger and more innocent than she actually is. There is not much of a tradition for painting ones face in The Vale, at least not amongst younger women, and as such her face is usually left bare - pale lashes, freckles and all. She hardly feel the need to cover her natural appearance. Her clothing is usually kept in blues and silver, an ode to her families standards. Eithne appreciates functionality over aesthetics, but is excellent at picking out garments of the latest fashion when the occassion calls for it. As with most other things, she has an eye for detail and a knack for picking out exquisite fabrics. When at court she will don the tradiotional tightly laced bodice, further diminishing her already barely-there chest, as well as heavy skirts. Her hair is usually pulled into an intricate braided hairstyle, as that is the only way to somewhat tame her unruly curls. She keeps her accessories to a minimum, usually wearing no adornments but an heirloom ring. |
