BACKGROUND » Noel's entire life has been a set of fortunate happenings with unfortunate consequences. He is the only child of Vivienne and Samuel Parrish, co-owners of a large New York based company that buys plots of land dirt cheap and build expensive business or housing units - no matter what they have to tear down to do so. Their relationship has always been a little rocky, as Noel has mostly been left to his own devises and spent a lot of his childhood at a boarding school. As some sort of compensation his father paid to put him through law school, although it never truly caught Noel's interest.
Noel was completely unaware of his magical heritage and was taken aback when weird things began happening around him. He first discovered his affinity for magic while at boarding school, but as the events where it showed were usually triggered by anger it was rationalized and simply called bad or rebellious behaviour. Having no sort of connection to the magical underground, Noel had to learn what he could on his own until he had any sort of guidance.PERSONALITY » Coming of as cold and aloof, Noel might seem unapproachable to most people. He's a guarded person, prefering to keep people at arms length. He likes to keep up appearances, as is the way he was raised, so that people don't get the vile idea of asking how he actually is. He's not very trusting by nature, but does make an effort to give people time to earn it. Being ambitious and driven, but also fiercely unwilling to ask for help, Noel is less than pleased to find himself somewhat aimlessly drifting through life - something that he attempts to mask with an uncaring attitude and dry sarcasm.
On the upside Noel is an intelligent and resourceful person. He is used to solving his own problems and capable of finding said solution if it doesn't appear right away. He is, however, quite impatient - and especially with himself. Having a bit of a temper under his cold exterior, he has found himself in trouble a few times. Noel is ultimately fairly selfish and would probably consider throwing someone under the bus to save his own skin.
APPEARANCE » Being 180 cm tall, Noel stands just above average height. He has a somewhat skinny build, making him look rather lanky, and the fact that he doesn't put much effort into working out does nothing to weigh it out. His skin is pale, although not entirely unhealthily so, and dotted with a few freckles here and there. With his behaviour during his school years he was bound to get socked in the jaw a few times and he does have a few scars from physical altercations. He has a narrow face with a sharp jawline, high cheekbones and a long nose that compliments his features. Noel has large green eyes that are slightly droopy and heavily lidded, which might make him look sad or tired if he didn't make a concious effort to look anything but. A mop of unruly dark curls rest on top of his head, kept at a semi-short length to make it more managable. It is longer on top and then fades into a shorter cut towards his temples and the nape of his neck. Noel has no piercings or tattoos, although the scars by his eyebrow and in his earlobes indicates that he used to have those pierced.
ABILITIES
SPELLCASTING » Noel has an affinity for magic and is able to focus it by using an array of spells and incantations. He is quite powerful, but completely unaware of this. By his reasoning, his magic is running rampant due to his lack of training and not because it is too much for him to control. While he has mastered some aspects and spells his magic is generally something of a wildcard, and difficult spells are likely to backfire.
- PARTICULAR PROFICIENCIES » Noel has dabbled in a bit of everything, trying to figure his abilities out, and has discovered a flair for destructive magic - and a particular talent for the darker kind. He doesn't outright practice black magic, but is not unwilling to use it. He also has a knack for illussion spells and divination based magic.
SPIRIT MAGNET » For whatever reason Noel, seems to attract otherworldly entities like magical fly-paper. He is able to see and communicate with spirits of the deceased, but has also happened upon other non-coporeal creatures from time to time. This is by far his least favourite aspect of his powers and he has viewed it as a curse more than anything. It is only very recently that he has allowed himself to delve further into it, which has given him a somewhat morbid curiosity about death, mortality and what really lies beyond the physical plane.
TRIVIA
» Noel can trace his family back to the puritan colony of Salem, which he reckons might explain his abilities.
» When initially looking into magic and trying to find a way to hone his own skills, Noel ignorantly went to the first and best psychic shop he could find. While learning very little actual magic, he did learn how to convincingly trick people into believing a tarot spread. He has more contact with the store owner than with his parents.
