Background

• Janus and Emma's story

  Janus was only five years old when the war began. His parents worked as soldiers to protect their home. But in vain. After the explosion, and destruction of Kodailon, Janus Maier escaped to Earth, but without his family. So, the thirteen-year-old Skolosar was forced to make his new life among the humans who had destroyed his old life.
  
  And he did. Settling into life as a human, and taking on the name Hale Jensen. Eventually, when he was twenty-four, Janus had his first true encounter with the FT-89 (because he was so careful, he had never had to actually confront them before, usually being able to avoid them). The humans had found the small community of Skolosar Janus had been living in for some years now. The FT-89 team stormed the building, killing every Skolosar they saw, man, woman and child. Janus was wounded, several gashes to his body and right wing. But his healing ability quickly made sure they were not life-threatening. Just in time, too. He caught sight of a young woman, Emma Darley, who had only recently joined the FT-89, hoping to protect her people against the supposed 'demonic threat' the Skolosar posed. She was caught in the crossfire. One of the other members of her team accidentally firing and hitting her. She fell. And, for no reason beyond gut instinct, Janus saved her. He escaped the chaos of the attack with Emma in his arms. Quickly finding a safe place and then transferring his regenerative ability to her through the Dalagare ritual, saving the humans life.
  
  This was what opened Emmas eyes, and heart to the Skolosar race. She realised the media, her captains and sergeants, were all wrong about this race. She quit the FT-89, and developed a strong relationship with Janus. Eventually, using some of her old military contacts to set him up with the best fake ids and documents you could get, and, four years after their initial meeting, they were married.

• Angel's story

  Angel was born two years after the war ended, and her parents had fled to Earth. She grew up leaning both human and Skolosar customs, and was curious about both. Forever lively and adventurous, as a child should be.
  
  Her father was killed when she was young by a member of the FT-89, but Angel and her mother escaped, re-settling on the other side of the country.
