  Adorabelle was born in the wake of the Dugan Rebellion in Imperial China to a British military advisor and the daughter of a Qing dynasty diplomat. After her father and grandfather died in the turmoil of the revolt, she and her mother managed to secure passage to Wales thanks to her late fathers familial connections in Wales. She was raised by her mother a number of years before her second marriage to the brother of her husband, a professor and fellow at a University College.
  
  Coming of Age
  
  Encouraged from an early age by her mother to actively learn and integrate into British society, she obtained a peculiar penchant for taking things apart, putting them back together, and usually making something completely new in the process. This led her, to the muted chagrin of her adoptive father, into pursuing a college education in an recently developed field called mechanical engineering. In the chorus of events, she came to know a great many of friends, acquaintances, and lovers among the halls of European academia.
  
  Present Events
  
  Having abruptly left the British Isles years ago for reasons unknown, though whispers abound, she can be a hard person to find, holed up in some redwood-filled corner of the American Northwest. Rumors from trappers and wagon trains of loud sounds and explosions have suddenly cropped up. Strange sightings of fast flying, metal things are known -- large areas of trees flattened out are the typical calling card of these objects. Could these two simultaneous occurrences be linked to frontiers newest Oriental resident?
