• Description

  Sanzang was a monk who was obedient to the rules and prohibitions of Buddhism. He hates to kill anything. This often led him to clash with Wukong, who killed everyone who wished to harm his master no matter if they were demons or humans. Perhaps this aversion to killing people may not have been due to compassion, but rather due to fear for the law. On one occasion when Wukong killed six bandits who wanted to rob and kill them, Sanzang scolded him, speaking of how Wukong could have possibly gotten them imprisoned had he not slain them in the wilderness but rather in public. This should not be taken as a flaw, but rather proof of how he is not the holy monk everybody made him out to be, but rather only a human like everybody else in the end.
  
  In fact, he may be just a little too compassionate for his own good. Various demons have used this weakness to trick him many times before. The most often trick used was turning into some helpless person such as a child or an injured old man so that Sanzang would take pity on them and try to help them. They were able to get close to him this way and pass Wukong's defenses. This was because Sanzang never listened to Wukong when the monkey told him the seemingly helpless people were actually demons in disguise.
  
  Sanzang can be very stubborn at times...stupidly stubborn, unfortunately. He is also easily tricked or persuaded. He often falls for the traps of demons and their likes.
  
  Lastly, Sanzang is very resilient to seduction. Very. He was tested numerous times by various women (including demons) but he never wavered.
