• Description

  At 5'11" and only 140 pounds, Demitrie can be referred to as twiggish, but his fine features and poise lend him an aristocratic air that make up for any awkwardness resulting from an abundance of bony elbows. His hair is the bright blood red characteristic of his mother's family, but he inherited his father's eyes, a rich blue that look purple in the right light.
  
  Although previously meticulous in his appearance, he's grown lax in recent years and taken to keeping his hair long enough to braid, since keeping it trimmed short is difficult when you find yourself sleeping 18 hours out of 24 and your hair can grow up to an inch in a day. His dreams of being integrated into the fabric of his home pocket universe have become unsettlingly vivid, to the point where they have begun to leak into his few waking hours. More than once, he has woken up and sat in bed for half an hour before realizing he was not, in fact, a tree, and could get up and move around if he liked.
  
  Demitrie is still himself when he is fully awake and aware; that is to say, he is completely unbearable to be around, since no amount of thinking he is a tree will make him less of a dick. It isn't that he sets out to be irritating and rude, but he lacks empathy and tends to think of himself before others, and so he tends to casually tread over other's feelings or miss obvious social cues.
  
  Black is the most common color in his wardrobe. Black goes with everything, with none of that fuss about coordinating, and besides, he's a walking contrast boner with his pale skin and red hair. He wears a lot of high collars and things with buttons when he can bother to do more than pull on a t-shirt and stumble out of his bedroom for a few hours. What isn't black is grey or a jewel tone; his shoes tend towards boots or neatly-laced dressed shoes.

• Biography

  Born the younger twin to a demi-goddess and a mortal prince, Demitrie was initially raised as a prince himself until his father was exiled; although his grandfather consented to raise his twin, Daemon, Demitrie was sent to live with his mother and her family in the pocket universe where he was born, The Forsaken. The move was a step up, though, as shortly after returning home, he met the woman who would be his mentor in all things magical, Ryuu. Sickly and frail since birth, magic replaced the physical strength that his brother had inherited, and he spent much of his childhood studying or practicing; when he was just eight, he was able to craft and ensoul a golem by himself, but the drain left him laid up for almost three months. (He still refers to the golem, Claye, as his "daughter," seeing how the soul he created her with was a blank slate.)
  
  Demitrie's life was mostly uneventful until his late teens - his mother briefly enrolled him in a boarding school, where his intellect put him at a graduate level; he developed a close friendship with his cousin, Hikaru, and allowed himself to be drawn into association with a handful of Hikaru's friends; he was sick more often than is fair for a young man but continued his lessons with Ryuu.
  
  When he was 17, Demitrie's twin sought him out in The Forsaken. Their grandfather had passed, and Daemon demanded that Demitrie return to their father's world and take his place as the king. Demitrie refused; Daemon attempted to use force to drag Demitrie back, and the brothers fought, forcing their mother to step in and separate them. Demitrie returned to his life of wandering around The Forsaken, putting up permanent portals in strategic locations to get him to his favorite areas with minimal fuss. At age 20, he created another golem, Mael, this time using a soul caught in limbo rather than creating one.
  
  His cousin Hikaru got revenge on Demitrie for insisting he go to college by insisting in turn that Demitrie move out with him; Demitrie eventually relented, and they bought a slightly run-down two-story house with a large garden just outside the city proper. Demitrie spent his time gardening with his golem while Hikaru was at school, promptly found he enjoyed it, and expanded the garden through magical means so he would have more room. The house itself stayed slightly run-down, seeing how none of them cared enough to fix it.
  
  In Hikaru's third year, Demitrie's mother died, and Demitrie promptly modified the orb he had been using to keep in touch with her from their home in The Forsaken to keep in touch with her in the afterlife. They still keep in touch regularly, even though his mother rarely has anything particularly exciting happening on her end.
  
  After his mother's death, Demitrie began to sleep more and more until he reached his current state. He began having dreams of his home universe, at first misty images and faint sensations, that have recently become so realistic that he's unable to reliably tell if he's awake or not. The dreams are always similar -- he is part of the Forsaken, aware of each individual tree and the entire contained universe at the same time -- but recently there has been a figure around the edges of his vision that he can't quite make out...
