Dorotheos

History

• Biography

  Tieflings, a race of long flung descendants of devils, find themselves forced to embrace or reject their heritage sooner or later. Dorotheos was born to a Tiefling warrior who had set aside his infernal legacy as a humble adventuring defender of the weak and a paladin of particular zeal that left their child with his father before vanishing on a lifelong crusade. The honest efforts of Dorotheos' father to better his community did little to stop jeers or worse from travelers that passed through the sleepy town they called home, much to the young Tiefling's disdain. Feeling only abandonment from his mother and shame from the abuse his father would have them put up with, he dubbed himself by an infernal name, scraps of the language learned from tomes found on his father's adventures, and eventually left to live up to his heritage; if the world would see a monster, then a monster he would be--or so he told himself.
  
  Swift of body and agile of mind of mind, he learned how to utilize stealth, magic and a good bit of charm to live up to his ancestor Glasya, a mighty devil known to favour thieves and their schemes. While his kind were born of ancient pacts with such beings, he renewed a personal one with Glasya herself; 'worship' through the form of robbery and being a general thorn in the side of her rivals through aid in his studies and infernal powers. Armed with hellfire, diabolically guided through his use of a blade, and able to call upon all manner of illusions and enchantments, the young adventurer soon found himself in possession of talents most versatile. Heists and adventures of a less noble sort than tales are oft made of bought him passage to a fabled city of Tieflings, hidden away from the eyes of greater civilization. While he learned much of his heritage and how to make use of it, he learned all too swiftly that his chaotic slanting clashed far too often with the cruel hierarchies of devilkind. And while he was content to take his due from the world through trickery and thievery both, he found the haste with which 'his people' were willing to kill and maim too distasteful for his liking. It was little surprise when he ran again.
  
  Returned to civilization, he decided to carve his own path through his strange life as one of the devilborn. While not a bard as legends might describe, he picked up a talent with several instruments in the Hidden City, able to play them decently enough in that land's passionate style. A fine means of attracting attention, and sharing news or tales from the strange place or other far flung locales he'd reached among his travels. A dangerous game, to live by attracting attention to himself during the day while slipping through windows in the night, but suspicion just meant it was time for the next stop on his travels.
