Adaline Chevalier

History

• Biography

  Adaline was born in medieval-era France as a twin to parents Angel and Isaac Chevalier. Her twin brother is Blaez chevalier, but there is something a bit different about both of them. Before she and her brother were born, their mother, upon clever trickery endorsed by an organization that had gotten its foot in the door with the government, was given a serum that altered them from within the womb to become literal super-soldiers. The organization fed off the fear of the civilians that lived in constant fear of a threat they had named "Le Morte Rouge" which translates to "The Red Death", a deity who had plagued many parts of the world with his destruction. Having been convinced that altering their children to be stronger individuals would be the only way to save them from an attack by Le Mort Rouge, many gave in and also took the serum. The serum consisted of a potent mixture of Giant-Essence, Oil Concentrate from that of a rare healing flower, and another unknown force, infused by men and women known as "Charmers", that has yet to be fully understood. The serum split the very being of each child, splitting their soul in half one could say, into two parts. One that consists of everything strong and one that consisted of everything that might contribute to weakness (Emotions, Empathy, Small-Stature, etc.). The two parts then existed in one body, the weaker side (often very small and innocent) being the one to be seen, and the strong side hiding within. Until the small side was put in danger that is. If the weaker side grew afraid, or for any reason felt threatened, the strong side would emerge and its form would then become seen while the small side hid within. The two sides often looked very differently from each other. The small side often looking more like their human parents than the strong one, who appeared almost alien due to the bright blue hair they possessed as well as their inhuman expressions; blank and devoid of all emotion. The weak ones did possess one advantage though. The healing flower that had been included in the serum went to them. They possessed the ability to heal themselves and others at the simple touch of a hand, though their healing ability was most suited to tending to their stronger counterparts. Adaline would later become separated from her smaller counterpart (Later named Darla) and be gifted her own emotions, but in the beginning, she was an emotionless husk of a guard for Darla. Her brother Blaez's smaller counterpart was named Daren, but that's a story for a different time.
  Anyways, following the birth of Adaline and her brother, turmoil within their country began to arise as the Charmers and their army came in to then steal away every single serum-born child for their own purposes, leaving the parents broken and clueless as to where their children were being taken. Adaline and her sibling were separated once they had reached a toddler stage into separate institutions known as "Guardian Camps" where the children were raised like little soldiers. Adaline and all of the other "Guardian Children", however, grew much faster than normal human children, usually reaching physical maturity by age 7 while their smaller halves grew at a delayed rate of growth, remaining in a child's body and state of mind much longer than one would have thought possible to enable their stronger half's continuous prosperity. Adal, despite her lack of emotions, understood that the way she and her housemates were being held was not ideal, and far from safe for their smaller halves, whom they protected at all costs. They represented everything that they knew in their hearts they should have been, had their lives been normal. But it wasn't until after Adaline and Darla were nearly killed by an unsuspected Hellhound attack that she began to seriously consider ways of escape. She grew more and more bold in her attempts to escape but she was caught each time and then publicly punished by the leader of their camp. Her own uncle and Charmer, Philip. But everyone just called him Pitch. At age 13, with the help of an unexpected friend, Adal and Darla escaped to the docks and boarded one of the large ships hanging out in the bay. Turns out, the ship they had stowed away on belonged to none other than Mort Rouge himself; a relatively young diety with raven hair and piercing crimson red eyes, named Rezno Wolfhart. Despite what Adal and Darla had been told, he was not who they had been told. He was quite a gentle soul, just misunderstood and plagued by an awful curse of destruction he had no control over. He allowed them to remain on his ship and they stayed together for many years before eventually settling down on an island not too far off the coast of the British Isles. With his help, Adal and Darla were given their own separate bodies and emotions. And it was not too long before Adal and Rezno had fallen for each other, eventually coming together in marriage, spending their remaining days growing a family together and fixing what had gone so wrong in their youth.
