  • Biography

    Rina and Ellery joined the Dayton Brothers Carnivale together ten years ago under the guise of sisters, rather than confessing their true mother-daughter relationship. Rina professed to be Ellery's older sister, charged with keeping the child safe and fed. At first, Rina ran a fortune-telling tent while Ellery learned how to create and mend costumes for the performers. Once Ellery was old enough and expressed an interest in acrobatics, they both took on the trapeze routine for several years.

    Two years ago, in the middle of a performance, Ellery slipped and Rina dropped her. The net malfunctioned and Ellery was severely injured on her right side, breaking several ribs, her hip, and her leg. Doctors were unsure she would ever walk again, but she ended up making a full recovery eventually. Now too terrified to perform, Ellery tends to the carnival's animals. Rina was publicly devastated by the accident and backed down from the trapeze as well, reclaiming her spot in the fortune-telling tent instead.

    The carnival stops for two weeks before moving on to the next town, no exceptions. Strangely, folks always seem to go missing when they're in town, leaving notes behind about joining the circus. They're never seen again. Despite several investigations, not a trace has been found in the carnival and the show must go on.
