Asmund Salazar Geist

Asmund was born to two human parents in a temple to Vaara, Mother of the Veil. She is the Goddess of Knowledge, Arcane Lore, History and Poetry, Asmund was believed to be destined for greatness due to the circumstances that lead to him being born under the Veil Mother's sigil.

Asmund would grow up in the temple with his two older siblings and his parents, living here until he was 5, then his younger brother was born, his family would eventually leave the temple to travel towards a small village in the wilderness to find work in the frontier.

When Asmund and his family arrived, their father would give a nice sum of money to have a home built for themselves, which would take a few weeks to a month. In that time they would settle for camping in tents. Asmund's father was trained as a hunter and learned the skills of a farmer and proceeded to help the village through those means.

One day, his father set out with a hunting party, there had been reports of a small pack of dire wolves...what the hunting party didn't realized, was that the dire wolves were running from something- A Roc, a titan of the sky. The hunters had killed some of the dire wolves and skinned them for their pelts and meat...until one vanished, then another, then another and so on. Out of the 12 man party that left that day, 3 died attacking the wolves and 7 more were devoured by the Roc, Asmund's father included.

That would be a hard time for his family, now raised by their single mother, though his father did managed to save a bit of coinage to allow his family to live in comfort, along with whatever profits they had left from farming, after taxing. Asmund himself grew up with several friends and generally had a happy life, some strife and drama came here and there though. He got along great with his older siblings, but he and his younger brother were indifferent to one another.

Eventually his older brother and sister would leave home, his older brother became a merchant and an assassin /something Asmund would find out years later/ and he was doing well, but his letters stopped and no one knew where he was or where he could have gone, his status was unknown. His older sister became a priestess to the God of Ceremonies, Last moments, Death and decay. She was a Cleric of the grave and spent her life helping people, or giving them peace in their remaining moments on the mortal plane. She is living a quiet life at a temple and is quite successful, last Asmund had heard, she was a higher member in the church of Ames, Cardinal of Last Oath.

Asmund himself, at the age of 15, would become a sage. He choose to do this after discovering an ancient library hidden deep within the forest surrounding their village. It was from a time when the Gods and Primodial forces still danced around the cosmos, when dragon's ruled the skies and titans ruled the earth. The young Asmund poured over the old text and tomes he found there, studying them day and night. This experience awoken a deep hunger for more knowledge, this drove him to leave his village and seek out more.

That experience and his natural affinity for the arcane arts, lead to his desire to learn more and further develop his prodigious mastery of the craft. Asmund set out for a life of adventure, a search for more magic and a way to expand and grow his power. As Asmund traveled, he would spend a few months as an Astronomer, helping to make a star map to earn a bit of extra gold.

As Asmund continued his travels, he would meet a friendly old alchemist who gifted him a healing potion and a riding horse to help him further along his way. As he went, he visited many cities around the world, as he traveled Asmund would come across a strange forest, the sky was an array of pinks, oranges, and yellows, the grass was a shade of indigo and the trees bark a glossy black and the leaves a vibrant, changing, shades of greens, yellows and red. The air was warm, as though it were spring, in the center of the strange field he came across an Archfey named Licvan and managed to escape before he could be seen.

After that strange time, Asmund would catch wind of a group of adventurers looking into an ancient tomb, the young mage would ask to join them, proving his worth with his knowledge and magic. It was a simple dungeon, perfect for novice adventurers, they would spend about a year searching for it and another 6 months excavating the tombs entrance. It would take two weeks until they reemerged with the treasure. The leader would take a rather sharp weapon, others some gems and Asmund collected a small sum of gold. He'd later here that the party dissolved after the leader was assassinated, his new weapon stolen.

Asmund, now roughly around the age of 19, was attempting a new spell- to horrible effects. He ended up being burned by the heat of a fire spell he cast, it left a scar along his right cheek. He would continue his journey and training regardless of the injury, but he was more cautious about it afterwards.

Eventually Asmund would settle down in a capital city to focus on his craft, helping by making star maps, or working as an apprentice under a wizard to make extra coinage to secure his living /Without taking his personal funds./ during this time he would meet a beautiful and intriguing elven woman with bluish grey-eyes, long flowing silver hair and pale, almost snow white, skin. Asmund would do everything he could to court her /Ultimately making a major fool of himself/ until she said yes. Asmund they would be together for 3 years...until she vanished one day, without a trace. Asmund was 22 and decided to travel again, looking for Sava Bryquinal. /Unbeknownst to Asmund, Sava was an Ancient Silver Dragon./

As the young Wizard began his travels he'd come across another city, starved and in desperate need of a bath house, Asmund would settle down for a few weeks, he was around 23 at this point. In his time here, he would hear about a war that was ravaging the country side, all men were being drafted and all travelers were "asked" /forced/ to help. Asmund was forcefully drafted into the war effort and spent a year on the front line, this experience /while horrible/ helped to increase his skills exponentially. During the many battles he had, he grew more knowledgeable in the art of arcane combat, adding a component pouch to his belt.
During a particular grueling fight, Asmund would be badly injured, awful scars left on his body after the grievous wounds healed.

Asmund would eventually desert the army after this, it wasn't his fight, it wasn't worth his life, he ran and abandoned his medal. He was disgusted and angry. The wounds are a constant reminder of his brush with death and...the ghost of his father with whom he spoke, who encouraged him to continue his search of knowledge and power. To remember that; Magic is a dangerous tool. Use it to protect yourself and what you treasure.

He would retire to a town with a neighboring kingdom, working an apprenticeship under an Archmage. He spends his day either in the Snowfall Wolf Tavern, The Spire Obelisk of Lore or the Paragon Reserve Athenaeum. Asmund is attempting to improve his magic while hiding from the army he deserted...though he is looking to once again adventure out into the world.
