History
As a young spirit, she held a rather bitter outlook toward the rest of the world due to a difficult start to her life. She allowed hatred to enter her heart, and envied the happiness and beauty that humans, creatures and other spirits embodied. Why was life so unfair to her?

Gherkin's primary physical form arose when her spirit was bound to an earthly object, a fox mask. It was a self inflicted punishment; unsatisfied and blind to her own qualities; she crafted a mask to hide her true self. Her attachment to the mask also bound her to the mortal world and left her vulnerable to the dangers that lay in it. Bound to the mask, she could only experience life vicariously. A 'near-death experience' shattered her mask and many of her negative preceptions with it. Though still confined to the mortal world, she could begin to see beauty and happiness everywhere in it, sometimes even in herself.

Physical form - Mask
Gherkin's mask design is visually influenced by traditional Japanese masks and Kabuki make-up styles 'Nihonguma' and 'Kagekiyo no kuma'.
The patterns on her mask influence the markings on her other physical forms.

Physical Age: 24
Spiritual Age: Potentially hundreds of years.
Species: Kitsune (fox spirit).

Body type/ Weight: Lithe/small - Around 126lbs/57kg. Healthy amounts of fat and muscle (no exceptional physical strength, average). Little muscle definition but shapely and fairly well endowed. Five tails.
Height: Short, around 5'3''/163cm not inclusive of ear and tail length.
Fur: Lime green and white.
Hair: Dark green, very long. Typically fastened in a high ponytail by a hot pink bow adorned with a golden bell. When hair is worn loose, said bow/bell are worn around her neck.
Eyes: Blue.
Im/mortality: Longeval: mortal body, immortal spirit. Body can be maimed, killed and destroyed by certain weapons, elements or forces.
Distinguishing Features: Hot pink, symmetrical, markings vaguely reminiscent of Noh masks and kabuki make-up: eyelids bear hot pink fur and which looks akin to eyeshadow. Each cheek bears 2 freckle-like markings. Vulpine muzzle but sheep-like nose.

Personality
Temperament: Cunning but not decietful: takes pride in honouring the truth, even to her own detriment. That said, she does not always extend her full truths twice to those who shun them the first time. Steadfast, optimistic and hopeful - confident that positive change is possible, even in the most bleak situations. Thoughtful and tends to over-think. A hot-head by nature, though she makes great efforts to maintain a level head when interacting with others. Forgiving and empathetic.
