Kimoi

An uninspiring, somewhat banal, and simple monster from the days of yore, Kimoi comes from a somewhat unknown species of body-snatchers that exist in the form of a ghostly essence before inhabiting a dead body and re-animating it for the sole purpose of easier mobility and an easier meal. It’s hard to define something that isn’t human as a ‘cannibal’, yet the species’ main source of power and nutrition come from flesh belonging to anything with a cohesive thought process. More easily, a soul.

Alas, as Kimoi is (rumoredly) the last of his kind and considerably younger than his predecessor, his purpose in life is mainly survival. His last body acquisition was nearly twenty years ago - unusual for his kind, yet he is bound to it mysteriously by a cursed ring.

The process of acquiring a body is generally simple, and quite a few centuries ago Kimoi decided not only his diet, but his body-snatching to would only be focused on the already deceased. The essence, spirit, whatever you prefer to call it gets into the head by the easiest opening, and over a course of a few hours hollows it out and ‘wires’ itself to the body. The end result is an empty, dark cranium, inhabited by a lonely-looking spirit. The body from that point functions as normal, but almost immediately has a few reflections worth noting that vary from individual essence personalities. In Kimoi’s case, he has a large pair of furred ears, your classic spade-shaped tail, and sharp teeth. When he needs to feed, a large and vicious mouth appears in the middle of his stomach. The body retains a somewhat deathly pale skin tone (as there is no normal circulation present) and a lower body temperature than normal, hovering around 70 degrees f. Hair and nail growth proceed as usual, and while the individual does not need to eat by (normal) mouth, vital organs such as the stomach and digestive tract can handle the task easily and take care of waste as a living body would though no nutrition is obtained from doing so. As such, weight gain/loss does not happen. (Organs below the belt can function as the individual wishes them to, though they are infertile. Reproduction of the species is done by means which Kimoi is unable to perform himself related to a heat cycle.) He needs to consume flesh at least once a month, or he will starve. He has a hookup at a nearby morgue and a nearby hospital for this purpose, though in extreme cases he has gone rogue before.

The body he resides in and has for almost two decades is that of a boy in his late teens with a slender build. This leaves Kimoi somewhat weak in the physical category, though not impressively so. Being bored as of late, he’s begun to learn to read and write.

He has no permanent residence, so he tends to wander a lot, mostly aiming to keep himself entertained - and find a way to get rid of this damned cursed ring.
