Ricky was born to a wealthy and successful family who had made their fortune from coffee exports. Because of this, he was able to live a lavish lifestyle in Brazil. He attended top-notch academies and the size of his allowance earned him the moniker "Smaug" from one of his
American classmates. He had everything any normal boy could ever want.
And it sickened him. His only real passion was marksmanship. The boy's eyesight was remarkable. He'd been born with his eyes completely open and began shooting insects out of the air with a plastic bow at age three. The toy was confiscated after his little sister's ears was accidentally punctured by a stray shot. His father angrily tried directing his son's focus towards the future of the company. Ricky grew tired of the expectations and how little control he had over his life. He rejected his position as successor of his father and was disowned as a result. Velasquez longed for some action in his life and struck it out on his own. Free from the burdens of his previous lifestyle, he began to hone his shooting skills. Bows and slingshots gradually became guns and grenades as he became more involved with gang activity. His alias became Ollin, an Aztec word describing a third eye that allows one to see beyond normal sight.
Word of a boy who could see through walls and hit targets with inhuman precision spread in the world of organized crime. Among these organizations was Sanctum, a preternatural underground network. Think of it as a paranormal black market that also dabbles in the occult. It's one of those little-known organizations that cannot be found, but can always find you.
After a couple years of being a mercenary, Ricky was confronted by someone he thought he'd left behind in his old life: his sister. She'd somehow managed to track him down in order to inform him that their father was terminally ill. Ricky agreed to visit him on his deathbed, but refused to attend the funeral, saying "I'd be a complete stranger there". After that, there would be a constant cycle of his sister finding him just for her brother to disappear again. It went on like that until she became neoplastic.

Ricky's eyes look brown at first glance but are just a really dark green. The irises have a reflective quality that turns them iridescent when a ray of sunlight strikes them at the correct angle. His relaxed face is kind of disconnected with the corners of his mouth curved upward in a dreamy grin. Kind of like what you'd expect from someone who has finished vomiting after passing out drunk on a stranger's lawn last night. He grows his hair long because he plans to donate it to his little sister, who has started chemotherapy.

This is the symbol that appears on the nape of his neck whenever the ability is in use. The Ollin is an Aztec hieroglyph representing change or movement. Some interpret it as a sort of "third eye" that allows one to see beyond normal sight. Many cultures have their own interpretation of this third eye. In this sense, it's quite literal. Ricky has the ability to project his vision. It's a bit like having a drone with a camera that feeds directly into your brain. This allows the boy to see things from many different angles at once so he can calculate the angles of his shots. Even without the use of his Ollin, Ricky's eyesight is much sharper than that of a normal human.
