Born with a quick mind, and endless ambition, It was clear Maya was destined for great things from very early on. She excelled in school, and with a special focus and talent for the natural sciences. With the driving force of her high powered parents behind her, she blew past all boundaries put in front of her, and by fifteen was able to graduate with full honours and a scholarship to attend Cambridge the fall after she turned 16.

Her eyes have always been on the stars though. From a young age, her fascination with boundless unexplored space was paramount to everything else... Entire nights o her life were dedicated to sitting under the stars with the Grandfather or Father watching the heavens through a telescope and dreaming of a day she might walk amongst it. At first her parents thought it a phase, but as she grew older, her fascination wavered. If anything, it only grew more consuming.

Adolescence offered her a glimpse at a world that was far from perfect, and the desperation and Depression she saw on earth, if anything, only drove her towards her dreams. The endless expanse offered boundless opportunity, and for a planet intent on eating itself and its resources, it seemed to Maya that answers to their problems might lay elsewhere.

With that in mind, she pursued the theoretical sciences of Astrobiology and Astrobotany and received PHD's in both, and then turned her eyes towards astrophysics, and meeting the physical requirements for space travel, all while holding down a job on a small research team at Cambridge.
