Kimra

Kimra was born to parents whom were already considered as pariah as a Cezex could get. They had spoken out as much as they could against the treatment of the ungifted whilst toeing the line to avoid being banished themselves. If known to their people, Kimra would be considered illegal. Their birth was hidden from the educational authorities allowing them to stay with their parents for many years more than other children. Taught to fight, think and feel independently from what the government ascribed, Kimra was happy with their hidden life. It was only as the political noose around their parents' necks began to tighten that life became unavoidably dangerous. One of their last acts was to secure a smuggler's ship to carry their child away, saving Kimra from the ungifted fate that was to befall their family.

Growing up quickly in a galaxy completely foreign to the life they had known before, Kimra found a strange sense of freedom. Where most of their kind would have retreated and suffered, they found fascination and wonder. Whilst stealing to survive, Kimra practically studied what it meant to be different people and part of different cultures taking great interest in how subtle differences made all the difference in the way people interacted and were treated. This led to the development of her greatest strength; they were already a master at transforming and manipulating their skin, but to do so convincingly and get away with it across the different species of the galaxy is a rare skill indeed.

With most of legitimate society in the wider galaxy treating the Cezex with a degree of suspicion, finding work was difficult. It would be no surprise that criminal syndicates found more use for their training than any office job in a conglomerate. Staying as an independent agent for hire, they maintained a freedom that was far more effective for their work - being more of a whisper than any well known associate of a crime house.

Mostly arid and littered with tall and flowing rock formations, the summers and winters are equally harsh. Summer brings searing heat that could be dangerous for even the hardiest Cezex. The winters bring sudden wind storms that could ruin any structure on the surfice that wasn't supported by tech gained after meeting the galactic community or with the majority of the structure anchored underground. The crust of the planet, as well as the many mountain ranges, are peppered with long and complex tunnels and cave systems that have allowed the Cezex to survive the harsh climate. They range from preserved ancient tunnels slowly worn down by the feet of ancestors to others cleanly cut by mechanical tools and lined with metal to give the impression of day/night cycle as well as housing their mega-cities.

A biological mystery and marvel, the Cezex have extraordinary control over their cells. They are able to transform their appearance to mimic those they have met/seen in images. Whilst all of the species hold this ability to an extent, a rare few have the skill to to perfect this alongside the acting skills to mimic the personality and mannerisms needed. Those even rarer can transform into forms fabricated from their imagination, though this is far more taxing and can't be maintained for long.

With adaptive evolution on Zagnao, members of the species can work easily across a wide range of temperatures. Improving on cold blood, hot temperatures can make a Cezex feel more active and alive, they have enough warm blooded capabilities to function in colder climates despite it being extremely uncomfortable. Due to periods of long droughts, their threshold for fluids is extremely low compared to other species. To maximise on hydration during plentiful seasons, water can be absorbed through the skin as well as orally.

The military is highly trained. Whilst weapons familiar across the galaxy are used, the Cezex can be particularly deadly creating sharp claws at the end of their fingers and using their tail as an often fatal whip. Well trained assassins never leave a mark in general, but a common signature of Cezex work are a bruised and thin purple mark wrapped around the neck.

The Cezex civilisation relies on shared burden and all in society playing their specified roles for the greater good. Their parents have autonomy over their children for only the first 5 years of their life before they are handed over to the education system where they are carefully watched for any signs of developing aptitude. Once these signs are confirmed, they are channelled into specialised training. Those who do not display any signs have until the age of 16 to display, if not, they are given the opportunity to choose their path. However, overseers of specialised education can dismiss any students who fail to meet standards to become the ungifted, burdened with menial tasks and forbidden from breeding.

Unlike some species introduced to the galactic community, they have managed to maintain a strong cultural identity along with their history of fractured kingdoms, petty wars and the development into centralised and functionalist society they currently are. It was simply lucky timing that they were beginning to explore the space around their planet and had sophisticated enough technology to survery their system at the same time exploration missions from other parts of the galaxy stumbled across Zagnao. Requiring relatively little uplifting, their sense of gratitude and loyalty to alien species and empires remains low.
