  • Description

    Donna appears to be a humanoid, albeit one with whose skin is a dark shade not naturally occurring among humans. People from worlds with dark elves might assume she’s one, though her round ears and voluptuous form would contradict that. Her smile is sincere and her mannerisms warm and almost naively welcoming, though the color of her eyes can be unsettling for people unused to it. She’s also a large woman, and her socially inept habits can come across as imposing; she stands close to people when talking, hugs at inappropriate times yet refuses contact at others, and invades the space of people she likes without thinking. Both her appearance and mannerisms are acquired tastes.

    Her preferred style of clothing is also often a mismatch for social situations. Most often, she wears a combination of flowing silks with gilded armor, even when visiting people in lower-class settlements. Her visual aesthetic and penchant for gaudy jewelry implies that she has more money than she actually does; she dresses that way to make herself happy rather than to impress others, though this habit has resulted in her being robbed in unfamiliar areas more than once. Combined with her odd mannerisms, her appearance gives the impression of an exotic visitor, and she’s often assumed to be an outsider even in places she frequents.

  • Personality

    Caution and sincerity are the two predominant traits which define Donna, albeit in clashing senses at times. Being foreign in a very literal sense, she doesn’t grasp the allure of thievery or dishonesty even though she grasps the concepts; here sincerity can occasionally pull her in the direction of naïveté as well as sensitivity. As a creature without a concept of family, she becomes attached to friends quickly, proves her loyalty through actions, and takes betrayal very seriously. Unkind words from strangers no longer hurt the same way after a lifetime of living with no support group, but rudeness does grant her pause and pushes her to withdraw.

    Her cautious nature has been acquired via experience. Because she approaches societies without many preconceptions, she tends to see the stark reality in contrast to the mythologies which people often believe about themselves. Naïveté is only held at bay, when it is, by her hesitation to believe the things unfamiliar people tell her even when she wants to be fair and unassuming.

  • History

    Long ago, an elder being from beyond shattered through a barrier between dimensions. The eldritch entity met it’s end in the void of space in a time forgotten, and in its death throes, pieces of its writhing corpse broke off and were flung into different directions. One of those shards fell into a castle on a world of little importance, and the first object the castaway polyp came into contact with was a statue of an ancient queen of the land.

    Imprinting on the statue, the shard took shape in its image, retaining a rudimentary knowledge of the universe and vague memories of the original creature’s existence. For the first time, the humanoid being faced hunger, thirst, and fatigue based on the physiology of her new form, and thus began the struggle for survival by a physical adult with a child’s knowledge of the world around her.

    Without proper guidance, Donna had to learn the concepts of work, money, and civilization while being swindled, robbed, and mistreated by the busy society around her. She spent a long period of time homeless before even fully grasping the concept of property; she was arrested several times for stealing basic necessities before learning to differentiate between fairness and the law.

    She learned...eventually. Her unique Nature helped her to earn a living among the types who enjoyed venturing out into various worlds, and her longevity helped her to amass enough belongings to secure her needs. Now she continues to traverse different planes, searching for meaning and friendship in a multiverse where she lacks what others understand as roots or a family.
