Buildings rise high into the crowds. The dark world below had been long forgotten as civilization had pushed it's limits. A utopia in the sky.
All manner of vehicles buzzed through the air, forming long queues of traffic weaved around vast glass super-structures.

One such structure stood higher than the others, the words 'Forbes Enterprises' emblazoned on the front in large letters.
Inside on one of the upper floors a lone figure set to work, expansive laboratory buzzing to life with all manner of machinery buzzing and whirring in the background. The figure came to a stop as he reached the large windows overlooking the metropolis outside, arms stretched at either side of it's body as loud cracks and pops sounded.

A look to the side, a click of the fingers as voice piped up.

"Ok, lab. Time to get to work! User: Forbes logging in, let's get things started! Saturday morning schedule, let's go!"
And with one simple command, the place erupted in activity. Mechanical arms set to work on various projects, the man named Forbes overseeing as he moved back through the lab. Music blared through various speakers throughout the facility, eventually coming to an end as music began to fade out, voices speaking up over it.

"Aaaaand that was of course Jon Bone Jovi with their latest track, "Bone to be My Baby!", are those guys ever going to retire? I remember, seems like just yesterday we were on this show talking about how they were going to light up the world..."

Voices trailed off. A flash of light. Figure returned to it's position by the window, music blaring once more through the soundsystem as a disoriented Forbes stumbled a few steps.

"C-Computer? What have I told you about pranking me this early in the morning... C'mon, now let's just-"
He'd shut up. Music faded out as voices began to sound once more.

Another flash. Machinery screeched as things appeared to come to a standstill, figure grasping his skull as another flash consumed everything in white. A void. A figure hurtled through for what seemed like ages before landing hard onto a surface the being had not felt in a decade. Grass.

Had he fallen from the building? Had the world below the floating metropolis survived after all this time? Or was this... something else.
